For those of you new to Colorado, you can't (yet) buy alcohol (except for 3.2 beer) on Sundays. Not my strong suit, but you have to plan ahead and buy on Saturday or before. It's typically the thing that keeps me from drinking beer 7 days a week.

Dave and I will be there unless we have some catastrophe. We're coming back from Gunnison on Sunday morning. My lil niece is having a 3rd bday party in Lake City on Saturday. Aww cute.

Looking forward to it, have a safe trip Crimpie!

Per Taco Bill's pre-picnic tip wrecking appetizer idea:

I'm getting a bouldering junket together up the hill at the Blarney Stones.
This is accessed from the tippity top of Flagstaff, and is a ways down the hill on the Green Mountain West Ridge Trail, maybe.
(You can see that trailhead on the first map, up-thread)
So far it's just me, and I'll be there at the trailhead, 9 a.m. ready to hike in.
Anybody interested?

Crimpie progress. With a carload of "stuff" and her birds crimp is making a pit stop at thedogfathers to cut the drive to Boulder into two legs. Wellllll. Look what she brought with her:

Tornado warnings all around us. My house is in the center of the middle red blob. We are cowering in the basement Note the TV screen in the background below:

Roy,

I will be there. How could I refuse, when personally invited by the Mayor of ST, himself?

I can’t make the early bouldering session at Green Mountain, but if anyone wants to meet around 1:30, I would be happy to lead an informative tour of the historic Flagstaff boulders. I can personally demonstrate several of the V0s and will helpfully point out the holds on anything harder.

Included on the tour will be several of Oli’s classic first ascents, including the Red Wall and the high ball King Conquerer Crack. The tips-punishing Smith Overhang, various Pratt routes including the Overhang and the Mantle, the Gill Swing, and the amazing Double Clutch will be some of the highlights. Old folks should bring shoes and a chalk bag. And you youngsters, don’t forget your pads.

Meet at the spot marked Monkeys Wall on Roy’s map. After you start up the hill and go past the Flagstaff house restaurant and the parking areas around it, it’s the first big parking lot on the left. It has a newly installed outhouse and paved space for 7-8 cars. If you can’t find a place, go 20 yards farther up the road and there is usually room for another 10-12 cars on the right hand dirt pullout. Walk south about 20 yards and meet near the long, chalked up wall, the Monkey Traverse.

See you there.

That sounds delicious Ricky!
I just moved my meeting time up to 9 a.m., to accommodate both tours...

(and if anybody has actually been to the Blarney Stones, aka, backside of Green Mountain bouldering area,
-we could use a guide, 'cuz I'm winging it on verbal directions)

Damn you guys, now I wish there were some way to hyperspeed it back from old Gunnisack. Two bouldering tours?! I've been wishing I knew my way around Flagstaff for years (and when I say know my way around, I mean know where all the V0- problems are that don't require our intrepid adventurer--me--to get more than 6 inches off the ground).

Ouch!

The Blarney stones are well worth the hike out and have a more secluded feel compared to the zoo of Flagstaff.
There are some raptor closures currently in effect but it does not effect these boulders.

I have some time this afternoon Tar if you want to run up there today for the downlow.

Them stones look all right!
Are there a good handful of boulders that look like that?

Eric, it is blowing snow up here in Nederland presently.
Is that not happening up there on Green Mountain today?

I made it! Got in an hour before I thought I would even with the most epic driving weather I've ever faced. Tornados tearing up Kansas City. Following what was posted last night, we got hit by BAD stuff ant 1:40am. Scary sheit.

The drive over was wacky - 60 mph crosswinds, tumble weed pummeling, ground blizzard and sleet almost the ENTIRE WAY. Brutal. But all was worth it. I'm here, have consumed an adult beverage (or two. or three) and am happy in my new home with Dave. :)

Looking forward to seeing everyone on Sunday. I'd ride my brand spanking new road bike, but I think that hill might kill me. :)
