Our first location choice was on the lawn at Chautauqua Park; but it is closed for renovation.
We've decided to have this little gathering, a picnic with Crimpie, on Flagstaff Mountain.

This Sunday, May 4.
CATHEDRAL PARK/LOST GULCH OVERLOOK.
Let's try to meet between three and four o'clock.
Just bring any kind of picnic food, there are no barbecues.
Regulations dictate: no glass bottles are allowed and only 3.2% alcoholic beverages are allowed.

*If you don't have a Boulder County license plate, you need to pay $3 per car, at the self-service kiosk which you can see within the first mile on the right. If you miss this, there is also a kiosk at the Lost Gulch Overlook. ($25 fine) *

If the tri-table at Cathedral Park is vacant we will be there; this is right off the road yet has a secluded feel and can easily seat 12 people:

If Cathedral Park is taken, our second choice will be at one of the tables at the Lost Gulch Overlook.
Either way, we'll want to spend some time at the Overlook:
(These two areas are only a 10th of a mile apart).

To reach Flagstaff Mountain, from Denver, take the Boulder Turnpike, Hwy. 36, into Boulder and exit at Baseline. At the bottom of the ramp turn left or west on Baseline and follow that uphill all the way into and up Flagstaff Mountain.

If you zero out your odometer at the first right hand turn at the bottom of Flagstaff, just at Gregory Canyon, the lost Gulch Overlook is 3.8 miles up the twisty road. Cathedral Park is 3.9 miles. (If you use the mile markers, both spots are between the fourth and fifth mile marker.)

The Flagstaff summit/amphitheater turnoff is 2.8 miles up. From there, keep an eye out for Lost Gulch on the right, and just after that on the right is Cathedral Park. --Very twisty all the way up.

I'm in because I have to show 'CrimperGirl' where da heck Flagstaff is from our house :-) Bonus points to anyone who rides their bike to the picnic spot. Perhaps some pitches in Eldo in the am? Or perhaps a Team Taco ascent of the 1st Flatiron??

What Euroford said, only our flight to Seattle is a bit earlier than his to Chicago.

We were planning to spend Wed-to-Sun in Vedauwoo but with a forecast of snow and wind and cold temps pretty much from Laramie to Santa Fe, we're going to bail east for Grand Junction. Flying out of Denver early Sunday evening, but already have a commitment for the afternoon.

Next time.

Bummer, I was just there this past weekend - have to get my timing down better. Would love to make it, but I'll be sending good vibes instead. Anywhere but St. Louis for Crimper, and Boulder scores the big win - enjoy the party!

Short notice and I will be dodging the weather by going to do some towers in CNM.
And I was supposed to pass on a kiss for that transplant in Texas.
Well he did not ask but I knew it’s what he would want.
No worries Tar the kiss was not for you……

I couldn't find it on google Earth - darn!

Wish I could make it, though. Well, hopefully we'll have a good gang of SuperTopians at the FaceLift.
