I made a stop at Boomer Beach on my recent bullet trip through the old haunts. 30 years on, this route is not there anymore. Here's Galen getting ready to stretch.

This old shot of Galen and BVB at Boomer...

inspired my daughter to try and cop a similar pose. As she said when she saw the old photo, "Is Bob smoking a joint?"

Here's Galen on the Little Dihedral at the previously mentioned Stonewall

Frank Noble at Boomer

Pre-Boomer Prep Session at BVB's parent's kitchen table. They still have the same furniture to this day!

And here's a repost of my favorite flight time shot from that era

that roof isn't there anymore either

I'll throw down the 1st $5. towards buying Frank some muscles.

Are those seeds, and a vinyl LP cover? I didn't think they had cameras back then.

I was gonna say Valhalla, really. Did Sundance this summer, felt stout (the route, not me) "somethin' musta broke off"

Sanbagged Galen into skiing once, too. Palisades above 3rd lake, Ray Chandler behind.

I remember that trip. Being the seasoned alpine type, I sat most of the day in the snow covered east face cirque with out sunglasses on a bluebird day. Rubbed sand out of my eyes for the next 24 hrs. and still have the blown blood vessel in my eye. I'm pretty sure all the gear I'm using, including boots, was borrowed from Brad. He was a giving soul, and loved to loan me his gear back in those days.....snicker.

Amazing thread you S.D. friggers! Dang, now I understand why you were all so good; you had lots of FUN!

What happened to Frank Noble? Didn't he do an early lead of Paisano Overhang at Suicide (after Largo's)?

Watusi, you and I both started sans musculature (except you got really strong). I agree with Roy that starting out weak builds technique; then we get strong.

Bob (VB), your homegrown looks sorta familiar......

Doug: Oh yeah sure, you have time to post pics on the web but not.....oh never mind! Brad, nice to see a lot of us are still sucking O's. Truth be told, you were my patron saint of alpine gear back then. latest on me is I blew out my psoas, hobbled for 4 months, paying out the wazoo for PT and have gained 20 lbs around the waist in the interim. I've become intimately acquainted with bath salts and liniments, lol.

Blew out your psoas Galen?
That's ruff duty; plus, we all know a skinny guy with a michelin ain't cuttin' the ideal profile.
Nice to see you post up again; heal up and follow Off's lead.
