Chaz, I'm so glad for you! It's always so hard with our pets because we can't explain anything to them.

Jan,
The worst of it is that they can't explain anything to us! Mine try, I simply can't understand what they are trying to say.

She was an abandoned stray, left to fend for herself out in the countryside. She'd been out on her own for quite sometime I think. She retains her 'joy of hunting' to this day, even though she's well fed with dry dog food and table scraps. She is one helluva mouser. I've watched her hunt, that coyote/fox 'dive in the snow' thing, only she crushes down on gopher tunnels after hearing them with those big ears. Watched her bring one up too.

She prefers fresh meat!

I'm sure the gopher is gone by now...

Its what a lot of those breeds were trained for wayback. Badger dogs, etc, heck they even use small dogs in Africa to help hunt.

They are ferocious through attitude. ! My buddy has a wee breed, and he does the same. A dedicated hunter of things of the earth. marmots, skeewarels, mice and chases coyotes. They are tough too. Danos ol queensland was ran over in front of us on the street one night, eye ball poking all the way out of the socket. Dano licks his thumb and gently pushes it back in. Shellie recovered 100% from that eyesight was also fine from what we could tell.

Chaz, good news! I love that Doberman.

I've come to realize that dog people are a whole different 'breed'. They tend to have a special compartment in their hearts reserved for their dog friends.

One of those things that you just can't explain unless you've felt it. It's hard to describe, and hard to portray the way a dog reacts with it's 'owner'.
