I don't know what they are saying, but this is cool.

For the bored aficianado.

Source of the "gaston' move, and perhaps "french free."

What I am struck by is the client. The clients appear to be taking risks that many regular climbers would find unacceptable today.

Gaston did many of his north face ascents with clients rather than partners.

Thanks for the video!

Suddenly I want to ramble up some chunky snow clad rock tower wearing a leather bottom canvas backpack, inside a skimpy down jacket, loaf of bread and smoking pipe, and off we would go with no belays, rope for show only. Ah!

Now, where are the old corduroy knickers I once had following in Mr. R's pictured ware ways (his probably wool), going along blissfully up some Tahquitz route, with a felt hat too (bent back in the front) imitating Herman Buhl for that part of the costume, following upon a picture of him on the Eiger, I think.

And so indeed did some us begin in the 60s, stars in our eyes.

The ReBuhlfat look on Hagermeister's Boulders

Close to the full look on the summit of Moran (missing the patterned sweater)

Rocking The Look in the Bugaboos

Real men didn't take off their knicker socks just because...they aren't wearing knickers.

In the absence of patterned sweaters, color coordination was essential:
