I'm speechless. And stunned.
Please, John, think this through.
At the very least use a top rope. Otherwise you court catastrophe.
If you go through with this please make sure your attendants have EMT certificates.

I took my little brother to the Woodson Bouldering Champs back in ‘86...he was like 13 at the time. He actually entered the comp in his age class...he stashed his pack at the Registration Desk, which contained a brand new rope my Mom had given him for his birthday. We then headed out as he started bouldering.
A few hours later, we went back to the Registration desk, and to his horror, his rope was gone! He was really bummed...We looked around for a while, and eventually came across Ron Kauk working on ‘Lie Detector’.
There were crowds all around Ron watching him work it...lots of photographers...every time Ron even moved, the cameras clicked in unison.
My little brother nudged his way through the crowds...they kept pushing the ‘little kid’ back. Then he noticed...he yelled out, ‘Hey! That’s my rope’ The photogs and groupies pushed him aside, but Ron stepped up to him and said, ‘Hey man, I’m really sorry- we just found the rope at the Registration Desk, and thought it was one of the event ropes.’ The Ron groupies grumbled, but Ron was insistent they pull and replace it.
Ron’s respectfulness in that situation...above and beyond those around him...left a lasting impression on my little brother (and myself) that day.
