I'd like to see colder and/or higher. This Yosemite stuff is good and well for starters, but its sea level and board shorts. Plus there's bigger walls.

How about trango, Asgard, Jammu or seerdengpu?

The weather and the remoteness dont lend themselves to the required practice needed to get the route dialed. Maybe thered be an easier rated climb which would be fun but it wouldn’t be a step up from free rider. If you think about it free rider was the perfect opportunity. Hard enough to make it mind blowing and out of the reach of 99.9999999% of all humans on the planet but easy enough to be doable by one guy.

Agreed. And now that El Cap has been free soloed, the risk/reward equation would be substantially altered. One could do a harder route in purer style, thereby taking on more risk. But, it would be hard to get anyone like Jimmy to film the effort, and any documentary that came out would not have the impact or novelty factor that Free Solo has.

Mark Synnot has said:
I talked to free solo pioneer Peter Croft about it... There’s nothing else as far as he’s concerned. He said El Cap was the final step.

getting on a rope after free climbing is like going to prison

I would think it would be liberating, you know, to be able to enjoy the climbing without that death penalty thing going on. He seems pretty comfortable on a rope with a worthy partner, Caldwell for instance.

The following is a fake story I made up.

Alex Honnold, who has been called the world's greatest free climbing rock soloist, has announced today that he has nothing left to prove to himself by continuing to free solo rock climb and is giving it up. He said he is going into obscurity to escape the media limelight, and the feminine toxicity that was provoked by his recent movie, Testosterone Unchained.

Fake story.

He wants it to be known that he is sorry that the movie may have upset some of the pubic and that he is only guilty of having taken what has been freely given to him. In addition, he said that he appreciates the negative feedback from his movie and has taken it as a good wake up call, and a good time to get out before I become just another splat headline. He said he doesn't know what his next challenge will be. Whatever I do next, he said, will be challenging because climbing is the only thing, besides reading and writing, that I have ever done. Saying, see you later, he walked out the door.

This story is fake.
