When Jim freed the Salathe he was a full time employee!
Connor frees the Nose while he's a full time student!
Hell yes. This is the thing. This is the thing that makes this so metal.
They're weekenders. They hold down commitments at home. They have to do the same drive we do each time they go to the Valley. They know the feel in the hand of the Manteca or Escalon gas pump at 1 in the morning, the bleary eyes of the valley commuter, the podcasts, music, bullshit sessions. They're like us.
Herson clan just keeps ripping.

Ledge Rat,
I assume you mean that in the most loving, sarcastic, I-suck-as-a-climber-compared-to-that-fetus kind of way? Sort of unrelated etc, but I guarantee you the 15 year old couldn't repeat SLR's solos on the Apron.

The podcast is a pretty fun romp. I think I would really like a Jim Herson interview by Chris.
As for his ability to do some moldy forgotten route that was easy enough to solo in hiking boots in the 60’s - I have to say after that interview it sort of sounds to me like he’d be able to rise to the challenge - but might be more interested in doing other things instead.

Might want to go with "...has she been born yet?". Historically speaking.

My husband just showed me a video report of some climbers/commentators talking about Conner's feat. They and others are rightfully giving credit to Jim for his dedication in supporting Conner in his goals. But I've rarely seen Conner's Mom mentioned in the various reports I've been seeing, so I just wanted to give a shout out to Anne.
Anne is, like Jim, a tremendously strong and talented climber. Someone above said something about the apple not falling far from the tree. I've always thought Conner is the spitting image of Anne. For sure those kids have some great climbing genes from both sides.
Anyway, both of them have been very dedicated to their two climbing offspring, sometimes posting reports at the same time from different parts of the world, where one was with Conner and one with Kara. What I admire most is not the talent of the kids, but what good parents they have.
