Crazy.

I love how dad is filming and belaying at the same time. “My 15 year old is freeing the nose. It’s no big deal.”

Yeah - I'm generally freaked out about giving a perfect belay to someone trying to send their big project - then here's this clown juggling his camera, zooming in and out - with only the occasional blurred shot as - I assume - he actually does some belaying. Hilarious. Don't need no film crew, dad's got his iphone.

When Jim freed the Salathe he was a full time employee!

Connor frees the Nose while he's a full time student!

Quite an amazing feat for anybody, let alone a 15 year old. I guess this shows us how far things have progressed.

Nice work young man!

As a parent of young kids, I've been watching Jim Herson's feats with his offspring for sometime. I am awed and humbled. Don't know how he does it. Well, actually I do, and am envious: unprecedented dedication, commitment and practice. Proud Dad!

Always the supportive person willing to appreciate how other people do things differently huh JLP.

Belaying someone with a Gri gri or similar on a traverse with nothing below to hit really is not a big deal.

Jim Herson is quite accomplished. Who are you?

What a legend! Congratulations, Connor! Above all, hope you had/are having a ball with it!

And good thinking on going for it during the teen years before those fingers fatten up ;) Didn't Ondra give up on his Great Roof free attempts when he was trying NIAD with his dad in 2016?

Kids these days, they just don't value intimidation. LOL
Beyond well done lad!
What a brave and talented family. Blows my mind but that is what I love about climbing and always have.

Looks like he sent it in incredibly good style too (eg not rapping in to work the two hard pitches)

Supremely cool send, but he did rap in to work the cruxes a few times. http://runoutpodcast.com/index.php/2018/11/30/runout-11-connor-herson-frees-the-nose/

This thread still makes me smile. Jim is such a good guy, and his postings on ST of his adventures with his kids are all time. I've forwarded links to those postings to many a climber and non-climber alike. Anyone freeing the Nose makes my heart go pitter-patter.
