From all I've heard an exceptional role model.

When a sage dies, all are his kin...

I first met Tom Frost at a climbing gathering. There was a table set up with all the "Climbing Greats" that were able to be there so attendees could shake their hand, talk and have books signed.

Tom Frost was simply humble and awesome.

My heart is with all his loved ones, family and friends.

Damn. Tom was as fine a climber as there was. As was noted, upthread, a Frost route was a thing of beauty, an enduring statement, and always done in impeccable style. Tom's life embodied style.

My sincere condolences to all of his family and friends on his passing.

"Every man's heart one day beats its final beat. His lungs breathe a final breath. And if what that man did in his life makes the blood pulse through the body of others, and makes them bleed deeper, and something larger than life, then his essence, his spirit, will be immortalized. By the storytellers, by the loyalty, by the memory of those who honor him and make the life the man created live forever. "

He quietly let his deeds, on and off the walls, speak for him. I've always had the greatest respect for Tom as a climber and for the person he was. This dates back to a long ago Camp 4 conversation that harked back to his achievements at competitive sailing, before he discovered climbing. He was visibly embarrassed and quickly steered the conversation away from himself.

I'm thinking back to a late afternoon/early evening in Eldorado in say, Aug of 1977. The sun just spills down the canyon and there are the pealing sounds of hexes hitting each other, the rock.....a scene burned into my memory, and the soundtrack was provided by Mr. Frost. Calm, fearless, I wish I had met him. sincere condolences-
