Keen mind, incisive (and sometimes gently cutting) wit. Wonderful sense of humor. A great companion for Mexican food in downtown Oakdale!

Had a correspondence with Mr. Frost about 15 years ago. He provided a bunch of photo files gratis and he did an interview with my cousin. Super smart and funny...
Funniest thing he said was something like; " You want to know what's the farthest thing from clean climbing?" and we were like "What?"
"Climbing gyms"
Ha, he was referring to all the construction involved, materials, etc...
His delivery was great, all gravel voice and icey stare.
Love and respect to Tom's family and friends, a life well lived!

Sad to hear of Tom's passing. I can clearly hear his voice - always upbeat and friendly and read to go. As a climber steeped in the lore of Yosemite's history, I was honored and forever thankful to him for bringing me in to photograph the Camp 4 reunion way back almost 20 years ago now. The opportunity to meet and photograph so many of my heroes was truly special; Tom made it happen and even put money in my pocket.
My favorite photo of the weekend was this one with Tom, Chuck Pratt, Yvon Chouinard and Royal Robbins. I've photographed a lot of big wigs and even celebrities, but this moment was special. I felt like I was in the presence of royalty as I stood before them. The sight of Pratt cracking a joke, Royal laughing and Tom just smiling away never ceases to bring a smile to my face every time I pull up this photo.
Farewell Tom! You were an exceptional man.

It is sad to think that three of them are now gone.
Time marches on.
It would be interesting to see any other photo's you have from that shoot
of the camp four reunion .

Thanks Steve for posting about Tom, and for all your work on the upcoming book. I'm looking forward to reading it, and sure I'll miss him even more than I do now. I was lucky to have known him and to have climbed with him. Tom made me want to be a better climber and a better person. His standout traits of generosity, gratitude and kindness were contagious. He was a humble dynamo whose effects on climbing touched us all. He was a clean climber and a keen fellow. The world needs more folk like Tom Frost.

I had the great pleasure to be Tom's CPA and close friend for many years. We shared good times and some hard times. He was truly unique in every way. There will never be another Tom Frost, and he will be missed by many. Tom will have a Special Place waiting in Heaven.

My wife and I met Tom at the Camp 4 ceremony-we had talked on the phone a few times, i was working at Marmot in Berkeley and want d to carry some of his gear-out of the blue he sent me a set of stoppers, still using them as my go to all around nut-and he remembered me from a few insignificant phone conversations, and was so sweet to my wife. He's one climber i with i knew more.
With Jello gone today too, it really feels like the twilight of the gods.

Tom Frost was a loving and kind man, and lifted all he met.
Always humble about accomplishments, never attached to possessions,
when teased about leaving Ventura right before Patagonia sales exponentially increased
Tom with a wry giggle replied "Yeah, I got out of there just in time."
During the time leading up to divorce, while she had multiple negative things to say, Tom never once, not one time, had a negative word to say about her, in perfect Tom Frostese " it just isn't working."
I never met a man more kind, or more kind to me, when i divorced, i got a phone call daily, for months.
personal regret? i never accepted the repeated invite to go climbing in the Wind Rivers, thought i could not at the time, take away from family and work..... when your friends ask, go.
Every reference to integrity, humility, reverence, creativity, kindness, genius, humor, service, or generosity.. would be true.. Tom Frost was the best man i ever knew.
A life well lived should be celebrated, i have gratitude for every minute we spent together.

I had the pleasure of meeting Tom in Oakdale in 2016, and am so happy I was able to thank him for his work. What a kind and inspiring person.
