Volunteers are fine. When I was with Washington Mt Rescue I got really tired of dealing with retarded sheriffs. On one occasion the corrupt sheriff insisted on calling his brother-in-law and his POS lightweight chopper when we had access to either AF or Army twin-engined Hueys.

Rosnau! Rosnau! Calling Deanie Rosnau!

Can we get a little more Pretentious Self-Aggrandizing Rambling here please?!

PSAR, that is! We’re all hungry to learn from the master!

Edit: Forgive me, my jealousy gets the best of me sometimes... But seriously, you should name the sequel “The Longest Straw”

Love it, Werner. "Over 90% of SAR is human "tow truck recovery".

I believe the now 797 days in the field on SAR missions over the past 33 1/2 years has given me a few experiences that are worth sharing to interested parties.

Question: Does all the obsessive wandering to and fro in Ansel Adams Wilderness and then incessantly blogging about it count towards the "SAR mission" tally and "worth sharing" or is there some other category for that?
