Very cool work man.
Reminds me of a cool game my kids play called ReCore. The graphics on it are really beautiful and I actually like kicking back and watching them play just to marvel at the creativity involved in the game graphics.

20 years ago, they had to use a kite to get their aerial stills for photogrammetric work. He ( Cris Benton ) used a 35mm film camera, if I remember right.

This was cutting edge sh#t back then. Paul Debevec produced this as part of his PhD thesis, and went on to work in Hollywood because of it.

That was Debevec. Earned him an Oscar.
I only know any of this because Prof Benton is one of my KAP pals.

I appreciate all the input here. UI/UX development is an important part of what I'm working on (it's not climbing related).
I'm doing this mostly for fun. My drone career has turned to doing mapping and teaching mapping with drones. We mapped Coors Field in Denver a couple months ago. We've done a couple other MILB and college fields. If the next few weeks go well there will be a whole lot more of those in my future.
krahmes - those are good points but I am limited on some configurations.
It's related to the cloud app that serves up the model - sketchfab. They use a combo of OpenGL and Javascript to present the models. They started out with 3D objects in mind (animated characters or cars) which are complete. So I'm sorta tossing a model at it that it's not optimized for. Anyway, point is I can't make it not let you look at the backside as it's sketchfab's functionality.
regarding the size of the screen those are good points. With Nautilus I did choose the area of processing. My geology/geography mind requires the landscape part. So that scene is present by design. I didn't do that to Menses and you are correct there - it's too much.
For all of you that would like this on your Nokia flip phones you can download the sketchfab app for both iOS and Android. Then you can go here for the Menses routes:

Ha, nature badges! Put up little digital prizes mid-way up routes and let people collect points by tagging them all.
This is really great for identifying where routes go, but resolution can be a challenge to work out how shallow a flaring crack is, what kind of pro it will take, etc. Guess you'll have to leave room for something to be called "next gen" after this.

ooh wait, might lead to:
"Climber reported to have let go of hold, fell to death, during battle to capture a very rare Pokemon. The recovered phone shows he caught it, and he will be remembered as the most powerful Pokemon trainer in history. Friends and family mourn him, but are consoled knowing that he died doing what he loved. His body is gone but his high score remains"

yeah, at this point I've tested all the processing apps and mobile apps (for data acquisition) I can find. drone2map uses the pix4d engine for processing. It's great for GIS work. It works well.

I got around to making my first model!
https://sketchfab.com/models/983e06eb781a4481972efee0750f4518
On one hand, all of the imagery (524 12mp photos) for this model was shot on one battery by a friend with a DJI Mavic. Not bad! Only 15 minutes of flight time. Processing time on the other hand...
I'm using Agisoft (for now) to process the images. The tiled model looks incredible, you can pick out bolts and all of the cracks look realistic. Not sure why it looks much worse in Sketchfab. 400mb vs 2mb, but can't seem to figure out how to get Sketchfab to take my tiled model.
Learned a lot from making this model, need to be more precise w/ angle vs terrain and overlaps. Still pretty happy with the result. This is the future IMO.

Wow!
Thanks It's like getting to go, i've not been to the Voo in decades but I found my way to "I'd Rather be In Philadelphia" (KB, Thnx,RiP)
There is a program/App called the Gunks app for $20, you can see the holds & placements, seems like cheating, the thrill of the un-known & the ability to handle what ever comes at me, on a climb, is a lot of where I've found the most satisfaction, but this is the future.

Why bother to go? The drive there is more adventurous.
