All this talk of Lynn on the Nose but none of when Ines beat the top male ice climbers of the day at Ouray.

Bruh, Matt is trolling you. He is not celebrating female accomplishments because they're achieved by women, he is is celebrating female accomplishments because he knows that the celebration of female accomplishments will make you mad. He's not trying to argue with you; he's making fun of you for the fact that you will take every opportunity to sh#t on the abilities of women.

And, of course, because we're predictable, it will always be followed by Tami, Susan, kingtut, etc (and me, I guess), earnestly and hopelessly believing that equality is achievable and that the staunch old defenders of sexism will someday see the light ;)

I'm not quite sure, still, why I'm posting these things on supertopo. I don't actually think I can change anyone's views of the world.

I guess I got riled up when Warbler was posting about how women don't climb hard, don't climb scary things, don't do FAs, etc... It seemed like the best thing to do was to highlight what women are actually doing, right now, in 2017. The answer last week was a 5.13D R first ascent. The answer this week was a 5.14B big wall in Madagascar. People can decide for themselves whether that measures up to what the men are doing. From my perspective, those sorts of accomplishments, on a man's resume, would be enough to become a "professional climber."

best,

I am taking an unemotional position

I think you might be the most emotional non-banned person on this forum...

edit: Lol, I wasn't implying you've said anything that would warrant banning; I just thought the statement deserved a qualifier since there have been so many true nuts over the years, and you're far from that level of crazy.

It's an anomaly for men and women to understand each other.

I always thought it was something like: you can't change the mind of someone very set in their beliefs, but by engaging with such a person, perhaps you can bring attention to 1) the continued existence of outdated views, 2) the encouraging fact that most people in 2017 (not even on supertopo!) do not hold those views, and 3) the reasons why those outdated views are outdated, for those observers on the fence.

Don't change the subject, hon

Oh that's rich.

Not making stuff up. If it's not an "anomaly" then it's special adaptation certain women have, I.e. Being petite, having small fingers, etc. that suddenly give them the "edge".

Oh and ha, ha, my "feminist sisters". I'm not 20 any more.

Oplopanax, 2005 at Ouray, when Ines "beat not only all the women, but the men as well"

Clearly another ANOMALY..... just like that Alex H guy..... ;-)

Didn't the hubers brother put up long 5.14 routes in the 90's?

Why make it a competition?

I dunno ask OP.

There is one guy vocal about this issue and an echo chamber of folks trying to say the sky is orange and the emperor looks great. If you really don't care the don't participate in the "discussion."

Yes men can, as a user group and painting broadly, climb harder than women. Not Man, men. Not Woman, women. Whether you choose to interpret this data or ignore it is up to you. Superman beats king kongs ass every day and twice on Thursday, you can think that is interesting or ignore it, both discussions are about as useful.

The only distinct advantage I see that men have over women is in alpine climbing. It's easier for men to piss in the nasty conditions alpine climbing serves up.

I think it's interesting that a fact, or facts, get an interpretation like this.

Switch it up, make Kevin from Chad. Imagine if he posted articles and graphs about how African dicks are way bigger than American dicks. We could feel all kinds of ways about ourselves, our own tiny dicks, we could even accuse him of all kinds of heresay. In the end he is right, and no matter how much we label or smear him it rings true. As wrong as our African Kevin might be about tangential issues surrounding it, or his interpretation of what that data might mean (African men are better lovers, his immunity to certain insecurities, whatever), data still stands.

You can choose not to care about the data, Kevin might be misinterpreting it, but it's there just like your tiny dicks.

After all, this whole discussion is nothing more than a dick measuring contest anyway.

GDavis ha just summed up this entire thread and the other one just like it.

Wouldn't it be rad if Supertopo had a mechanism that immediately deleted an entire thread after somebody summed it up and encapsulated it perfectly, rendering all further discussion moot and pointless. Poof! Gone. Mic drop.

Kevin that's rad work.

And its taken me everything in my power not to make the "Kevin's got wood....hee hee" comment.

And yeah, thanks to GDavis, I think you should go by African Kevin from here on out.

That's some damn proud wood.
Probably took massive hands to handle that wood, though I hear they are a disadvantage on the Nose's roof pitch ;-)

Seemed too easy this time. I was expecting second year of this argument would bring some original content....kind of sad by lack of entertainment here. Will go watch the Man Show and drink beer.
