Happy B'day Fred! Climbed Outer Space w/him in'95. He owned a home in North Seattle in the late 90's. Bought it from a couple I knew, he was an electrician for King co. who worked w/me.

I've never met someone as dedicated to climbing as Fred. There was a Hungarian mathematician, Paul Erdos, who lived a comparable Peripatetic lifestyle, carrying his few possessions in a suitcase and shopping bag from airport to airport, hosted by fellow mathematicians around the world, always working on some problem. Such personalities are rare and special.

Seems an apt comparison. Beckey as climbing genius.
