Wayno: Mike Nelson would be around 70-75 years old now. I just tried to Google him up & discovered that his beautiful daughter Melissa died in 2010. The obit mentions Mike & Chris Nelson & Republic, so I assume he is still in that area.

I also discovered that there are hundreds of Mike Nelsons in Washington.

A neighbor outside the kitchen window yesterday morning. I have school-age kids, and we're lucky that we live on 12 acres but we're two minutes from the gradeschool five minutes from the high school And supermarket. My parents live on 100 acres and it takes 20 minutes to get anywhere which is fine if you're retired but would be tough with kids.

I hear you, Fet. I originally wanted acreage outside of town but with no kids, a well and septic, and fire danger, there was too much to take care of at our age. We opted for a place at the edge of town with 3/4 of an acre, city water and sewer and a fire hydrant on the corner of our lot. I still have a view and the whole county to play in.

I see you have some deer fencing. Look at that deer, eyeballing your garden. We have plenty of that going on in Republic. Hard winter and the deer look really skinny this spring. Cheers to Country Living.
