Mouse Man, you trolling us? That knott a speeder if my eyes and math are gud. It looks to be
one of the 400 species of Mutillidae found in N America. That would be 'velvet ant' to the
Latin-challenged. Of course, it ain't an ant anyway, it be a wasp! The females shed their wings
when they land and start hunting for a victim to sting, paralyze, and lay their eggs on. Their
sting is said to be the most painful out there and have been known to make cows cry. But we
digress, as usual.

OzGeek, how the hell did you manage to capture yer bathroom denizen for transportation?
Huntsmen are notoriously quick, not to mention not inclined to going quietly,

Used to roam around in the jungle in the Philippines looking for iridescent flowers and butterflies to photograph - sometimes you some onto a small creek and the roundish opening in the forest above it was choked with giant spiderwebs that spanned the opening. The spiders in it were the size of your hand and looked as though a couple had snagged small birds. Not fun walking into one of those webs.

Had this guy hang with us for a while in The Pinnacles Sunday.
He was very friendly and quite curious about our gear.

And then he proceeded to climb a vertical wall without any gear, just to show us what non-climbers we humans really are.

Actually, L, it’s mating season you know.
A little odd for him to be out in daylight but boys will be boys.
