Josh actually is a tad warm right now. But Tahquitz & Suicide have great climbing and are slightly closer from OC. There are a number of outdoor climbers at Rockreation and even SenderOne.

Zurriola,

If you are seriously committed to developing your rock climbing skills, you are in the land of milk and honey . . . California! You have all you need there . . . partners be damned! If you really want to learn how to properly rock climb . . . head out to good old CO. See you later!

Kalimon you are a mind-reader. I'm not sure if you're joking or not but moving to CO is very seriously on my 5 year plan (hopefully less than that)

serious question, is your inbox full of messages yet? Surely you have offers by now since everyone believes you are on the level.

What is zurriola, your name?

overwatch - I don't seem to have any messages from supertopo (I'm guessing these would go straight to my email?)
Zurriola is not my name - I lived in Spain for a brief period and it was the name of the beach I lived by. My name is Kailey.

Many times the Super Taco private messaging system sucks ass and the messages don't come through.

Not that it matters but I'm convinced you're legit. If you ever get to Arizona...

vvvvvvvv I think I need a translation for that post

she is probably in bay area where most gym rate only understand code 0 or Code 1, either system is on or in standby mode etc.

She needs someone in belay mode

There are plenty of gym climbers that also climb outdoors just keep trying I can't imagine you not finding a partner. I think it was the boyfriend thing that made people suspect, pretty unusual post for this sausage fest of a forum

but i know some shady spots in the monument.

Not sure how to take that one...just kidding

zurriola,

You are a very brave woman.

There are great climbers here with incredible resumes, even famous climbers here at ST that will be willing to give very good advice, or the hope to get a girl friend, or both. Lol.

Be careful. There are also some serious haters on here that you just have to ignore. Have a "water off a ducks back" approach and have an incredible thick skin response without revealing it. I should know. Lol

Good luck. There's great people here.

overwatch - I agree that the boyfriend part of the post was probably not a great idea, it was kind of a joke at first (I recently broke up with a boyfriend that is a climber and it's been difficult losing my best belay partner ever) but it was a little bit true. I do want to make friends and find a community, first and foremost, but it wouldn't hurt to have that #1 partner who is down to road trip and climb

Klimmer - thank you. you and others have been very kind and I appreciate the advice. I feel hopeful I'll find climbing partners at this point!

If you are not a troll, PM me.
I have tons of extra gear that I don't use and I can fix you up
with a starter gear rack that I will just give you.
you live is SoCal and I am there a couple weeks every month with my business.

We will meet for coffee and I will give you the gear and I can give you some names of safe people to climb with. And I could give you some lessons at an area that is good for learning the basics of leading and using gear.

my email is cosmiccragsman@msn.com

PS: And, No, I am not looking for a girlfriend, but I do enjoy teaching people how to climb.

Don't pass this up. Cosmic and his friends are the real deal.

because i'm not smelling troll so far, here are a few supertopo factoids, from as far as i've been able to ascertain from my years spent first observing and then slowly beginning to communicate with this mostly friendly but occasionally hostile virtual tribe...

average age of supertopo aficionado: 53.7 yrs of age
average on site grade: 5.3
average red point grade: 5.4d
average number of days spent climbing: 6.3 days / annum
average emotional maturity as measured in normal developmental years: 13.2 yrs of age
average annual income: $13 573.47
average political views: at one of the two ends of the political horseshoe spectrum, that begin to draw nearer to one another again.
average number of women who post more than twice a month: 7.5 / month
average deepest desires: a multimeter, a rubber chicken, and a blue butt plug

[at the same time that i thought it'd be better if you knew, i also want you to know that it's probably best if you don't ask for an exegesis regarding that final list, at least at this early juncture...]

jes sayin, that while there are outliers, you should know you've stumbled upon a, shall we say, interesting neighbourhood to go fishing for climbing partners in...

best of luck though! [and on one serious note: while i haven't met him in person, another vouch for not being able to imagine you'd go wrong taking cosmic up on his offer]
