Tried to ski real BC today for the first time. Cal Trans hosed us. But that was an impetus to explore new rock. Found some amazing stuff. Good year to get out and do it.

...expand your horizons
//totally. to do otherwise is to have lost the game.

what do you have to lose?
//more all the time, thats what makes it worth doing with intelligence rather than stupidity.

Damn, you might just surprise yourself
//only if youre brave enough. otherwise you will just repeat the comfortable events of the past and any surprise will be wasted

. Too much reminiscing and not enough action on ST.
//here here. same everywhere. often disguised as 'history'.

The present trumps the past and the future is unknowable.
only if you let it.

Can I get a woot?

Gotta love Mr. Gill playing his curmudgeon card. Still, to borrow a phrase, I bet his idea of taking it slower would kill normal people.

WOOT!

Expanding your horizons while holding on to the old horizons is tricky business.

Still climbing a grade or so off my 26 year old self at 63 and only because I'm too busy doing new stuff (a tech startup) to really train.

Once I finish stretching and yogaizing my 59d body, and finish my second cup of coffee (!) I'm headed to the boulder park, to work on crimps and tendons, informed by a lifetime of use, To know what's enough and what's too much.
Then I will lock in the hubs and head to the land of monstrous unclimbed roof cracks

For the hearing-impaired:

Think I'm going down to the well tonight
And I'm going to drink till I get my fill
And I hope when I get old I don't sit around thinking about it
But I probably will
Yeah, just sitting back trying to recapture
A little of the glory of, well time slips away
And leaves you with nothing mister but
Boring stories of

Glory days, well, they'll pass you by
Glory days, in the wink of a young girl's eye
Glory days, glory days
Yeah, they'll pass you by
Glory days, in the wink of a young girl's eye
Glory days, glory days

I love kids.
But I don't regret not having any.
I was able to extend my glory days well in to my 40s.
I plan on geting on some of my routes from 15 years ago this summer. See where I'm at.
Really looking forward to it!

What are you pissed about?

This was hanging in the bay of a service station I visited last year somewhere around Bozeman. Love it!

Too much reminiscing and not enough action on ST

I am aging! So I don't have too much time to spend hanging out on ST. Since January, I've done 20 days of climbing in CA, AZ, and NV, and 30 days of travel to Italy, CT, and SC. A lot of wonderful adventure.
It would have been more climbing but my aging left shoulder flared up and I had to take 2 months off.
Just because it doesn't get sprayed about here doesn't mean it's not happening! ;-)

Hope to see you at some climbing venue some time this year, Jim!

The present trumps the past and the future is unknowable.

At present I sit at a computer.

In the future..

Yep. Still sitting at the computer.

Action on a website? Is that possible?

Reminiscing, though...that is actually good for us senior citizens.

I am reminiscing about last Thursday, when I had ankles to lose, pride to lose, skin to lose, and the good graces of CP Rail to lose. A little pride was the only casualty but it was worth it.
