expand your horizons, what do you have to lose? Damn, you might just surprise yourself. Too much reminiscing and not enough action on ST. The present trumps the past and the future is unknowable.

As it turns out, quite a bit. But it's a pleasant sentiment.

I think that adjusting your sports as you age is an art. You must re-define the reasons why you enjoy the sport and set meaningful goals that still aspire for unlimited potential, while your body sets new limits.
In some ways, reaching back your roots is a sport can be an interesting step. Going back to the point where you actually decided to try to excel and setting new goals can be fulfilling.
I need to get back to Carderock, Rocks State Park, Seneca, and the Gunks soon!
Climbing with our peers is great fun as we generally went through the same development stages.
Old climbing friends are the best!

Not sure bingo is safe John....it's always played in churches or VFW's, that could warp your perspective. I'm going back to the Latok 1 area after an absence of 38 years....not necessarily safe but certainly energizing!

Never too late to take up baseball. Here's how.
Yeah I stole this, but bat it around anyway.
We can analyze which properties of the bat affect BBS. In physics terms, the momentum of the bat-ball system is conserved during the swing, so the sum of the initial momenta must be equal to the sum of the final momenta. Though simplifying the collision, examining the linear case will yield meaningful insights. The equation for the conservation of linear momentum of the bat-ball collision looks like
where mB is the mass of the bat, vB the velocity of the bat, mb the mass of the ball, and vb the velocity of the ball. Since the goal of the batter is to hit the ball hard, not to guide it anywhere in particular, vb final needs to be as large as possible. Assuming that the mass of the bat and ball stay the same throughout the collision, the equation can be rearranged using simple algebra to yield
To increase BBS, vb initial could be increased. Baseball players have long supported this conclusion: If the pitcher is throwing harder, the batter will hit it harder. However, this insight is not always helpful to the hitter—the only values under his control belong to the bat: vB initial and mB.
