I only dream about falling after very stressfull climbs. once ever coupple of years or so... I have heard that if you fall and land in your dream you don't wake up..... i used to get a lot of flying dreams. pretty rare now. i would run downhill flapping my arms and then dive forward while flapping. if I did it just right i could fly. it's really hard getting altitude and getting past the powerlines or out of the house through a window but once you get up to a certain height it gets really easy and you can cruise arround all over the place :)

Some people keep dream journals.
I don't, but it's an interesting idea.

hey there, say, brandon- ...
many times dreaming, is about things that aren't fully settled in our
mind (hence, our spirit) ...
if we feel we have come to terms with things, conquered things,
or, any of the list of etcs, then, these things don't usually get dreamed about...
if you dream about stuff that you are in the process of wondering,
learning, or figuring out, or worried about outcomes, etc:
then, many of these 'neither good nor bad outcome' dreams--your're
dreaming as to how you may be feeling, at this point in time...
then, too, as we all know:
any serious or big trip or event, coming up,
if it feels 'too foreign or we'd feel unsure in some way'
dreams seem to pop up with all kinds of very odd situations
running through the mind, on those things...
you will get used to yourself, and how you dream...
you can actually learn a lot about yourself, etc,
or, prompt youself to 'get more settled' if you
think about them, as to what is going on in your life, at the moment...
hope that helps... :)
sometimes, if folks block out really bad stuff, or,
are really afraid to deal with very serious issues,
or have had a serious shock, as to a situation:
they will find that those make re-occurring nightmares... :(
talking and praying, and asking for help, with others,
can help work at getting these things well...

I've had many dreams of falling, and during the fall thinking I'm about to die, then hit and wow, that didn't hurt. None involved climbing.
Flying dreams are cool, love those.
A couple of nights ago I dreamed I was running and it was how I once ran back in the day, then I woke up, ugh, cause I can barely run now, if you wanna call it that.

I dream about falling regularly. Not frequently, but regularly. Somehow I always wake up.
It's the airplane crash dreams that freak me out. Oddly, they're usually crashing near me, not on me.

I've had many dreams where I'm suddenly out of balance, lurch, and nearly fall, but then wake up just before the fall becomes a fall. When I wake up, my thoughts are always something like: "That was scary!" Sometimes those dreams are falling out of bed or off a sidewalk, sometimes they occur on a mountain.
I can't remember a dream where I actually completed a fall, but I had more than my share of lead falls in my youth, when close friends started calling me "Free-fall Fritz."
Heidi, who did a bunch of skydives in her 20's (like 26 on her 26th birthday) has very pleasant flying dreams on a regular basis. She drops into a Superman position and really enjoys the flights.

I've had very few climbing dreams, more skiing/snowboarding dreams. One time I dreamt there was a ski resort at the Hulk, and somehow my 96 year old grandmother was there slaying lines wearing a purple fur coat. That was a good one.
The only repeat dream I ever had was of falling. Maybe about 10 of them for me between the age of 8-10. I would fall of of something and despite feeling the lurch of gravity and the wind rushing by, the visual aspect was is hyper slow motion. I would always hit the ground in a plume of dust from the impact, but be fine. A few of them I would get up and walk into another part of the dream, others I would soon wake up from. I think I had one or two repeats in my early 20s.
My dreams are often very very psychedelic. I've kept a dream journal two different times in my life. It's a wonderful exploration of your creative potential and psyche, but it has some pitfalls. Journaling your dreams WILL make you better at remembering the details of your dreams in general, but eventually it can be too much. I started to remember every object on every surface, the color, position, the way the light was inflecting, facial expressions, dialogue etc. Next thing i know I have to write 10-15 pages every morning. If you have the time for that, that's one thing, but its also mentally taxing to recall so much detail and bring it to the page.

A few times I dreamed of falling, but like many here woke up before I hit the ground. I also used to have flying dreams where I could just take off and cruise around through the trees or as high as I wanted to go.
Those were always fun. I have had many dreams of climbing up short faces and getting to a point where I thought I would fall.
Not often but a few times, I have thought, "this is a dream, you can control it" and hand holds appear and I climb to the top.
I was in track in high school and I used to have a dream where I was running as fast as I could , but kept falling forward until I had to put my hands down and go on all fours, I would push myself up and run on just two legs but could not keep from falling forward again.
I love to dream.
Freud would love this thread..

I do dream of drowning and wake up trying to catch my breath.
What ever that means,
How is your heart doing?

Yes drowning in dreams can point out hart problems,
Un common dreams are the ones that disturb me, re-occurring dreams, while disconcerting
Seem more & more like familiar re-runs of metaphors for my life.
I try hard to sleep well, with mixed results. If you're really troubled,
Do not take or drink, go for a walk then straight to bed
I'm not sure, no dreams? That seems more like, not recalling them
Or the dreams being out of focus. Try a hot toddy no alcohol, just sweet water 'n lemon , Squeezed fresh before bed, (if you wan to remember your dreams)

When I fall in a dream I usually just end up on the ground. Going off the ledge, and then on the ground. Nothing in between. I'm always on a ledge.
When I jump instead, I know by now that there's a change in life ahead of me. When I jump, it doesn't have to be a ledge. Usually it's a white house and it's burning. I dream a lot about houses. There's certain images which I remember from dreams, the way the light comes into a room through wooden shutters, the layout of the place...
Sleeping is like going to the movies, in periods. I love it when next night picks up where the dream ended and continues. Especially when it's like an action movie.

Cintune - I've had those bounding dreams too, fairly often. Two-legged bounds, higher and higher. Incredible fun. Also had flying dreams occasionally, just flapping arms and soaring.
Wonderful. I wish.

I used to have those dreams as well. Jumping for hundreds of feet.

I used to free solo a lot, and I used to have falling dreams all of the time.
When I lost my grip in my dream, I was jolted out of bed in a drenching sweat. For some reason, I was always on a big overhang when I fell.
Thankfully, now that my beard is grey and hair is about gone, those disturbing dreams have become rare.

I have had so many falling dreams that now my mind doesn't care anymore
I just fall and my mind says it's only a dream, it'll be OK
so I just relax and let er fly
and then I just go on to another part of the dream w/o going into panic mode
My dreams now always have me skating (ski skating style) instead of walking, I skate with my tennis shoes on in my dreams, somehow they work just fine, everyone else skates, so it's just normal action in my dreams.
and when I ride my bike in a dream, I just toe tap the peddles really fast and don't turn full circles.
I finally figured that out, I'm actually moving my feet in my sleep up and down.
