How's the work situation in Utah these days; are Mormons hiring non-Mormons?
We have property in Cedar City and Brian Head. Both were bought as our retirement locations.

Roots! Since no-one has answered your questions about Utah, I'll give my slant, since until this year, I visited outdoor & emergency preparedness stores there on business & have spent a fair amount of time in many parts of the state.
Employment opportunities are great, although pay scales are likely less than in California, but then the cost of living is lower too.
Around SLC, Ogden, Park City, & Moab, it appears that most companies do not give job preferences to Mormons. I do think that in most of the rest of Utah, it's still a "good old Mormon" club with an exception here & there, like Brian Head.

Boy, every time I drive through Cedar City (2-4x per year) it seems to be growing by leaps and bounds.

That Cassidy Country is simply amazing when it comes to the appreciation of the MicroZone; plus the quiet MoMo's have a way of repelling most of today's yupsters and their 'ways'.
Give 'em hell Butch!
I'd say if you want a sleeper town at least look close to where you are now. No need in waking up the quiet folks out there just doing what they love to do at a lesser($$) level. Let them sleep.

That's encouraging to hear! I remember when a certain bouldering pad company was cranking out pads from SLC with names like AK-47, etc...I wondered how Mormons were taking their in your face marketing.

So true! We do like the area, but we need to work for another 15-20 years.
Funny, every time I drive through Mesquite I wish I would have bought early and held. Every time I drive through St, George I wish I would have bought early and had already sold ; )

Well looks like I am posting to myself at this point. LOL
New owners want to keep me on for at least 12 months. So signing an employment contract by next week. At least it gives my wife and I more time to decide where we will be moving to.
Thank you for the great ideas, we plan on researching them!

A fair number around here are gun nuts(the legislature commissioned a commemorative AR 15 last year), so those names were no problem. Now Polygamy Porter, Brigham's Brew and Porter's Fire on the other hand…

And get this! Barstow is a reasonable drive to RR, JT and San Bernadino, and it's hard to beat the glorious desert sunsets or the solitary hiking in the Mojave Preserve. It's Barstow hands down!

I'll throw out Mt. Shasta or outskirts of Redding.
