When I was a kid, just 10 years old in 1970, there were vendors out at the track who would sell all kinds of posters.
This is very reminiscent of the idiosyncratic style of portraiture from the time:

Gents, grease yer checkbooks! The most famous of the 4 Ferrari Scaglietti 290MMs built in 56 is going on the block at the Peterson today! It took 2nd in the 56 Mille Miglia in the hands of Peter Collins and Louis Klemantaski ahead of another 290MM driven by Fangio. It was later driven by Fangio and Uncle Stirling in other races. It is expected to bring 28 Large Large.
Definitely droolworthy, huh?

One of the most innovative things Porsche did was incorporate mechanical fuel injection. Beginning with the 911R in '67 for the '68 model year, Porsche used MFI for fuel delivery on its factory race cars. Mostly for the throttle response and reliability. 907, 908, 910 through to the 917 used MFI. A Bosch effort, it first appeared on a road car with the MBZ 300SL in the '50s. Porsche had long collaborated with Daimler Benz and adopted the technology. Porsche first used it on a road car for the '69 911S. The '73 model year was the last for MFI. All 911S cars used it as well as the 73RS.
It is a jewell of fascinating technology from the day and still serviceable as ever. It is not an ancillary part to the engine like carburetors. Once you think of it as an integral to the engine they are easier to understand. It is driven by a toothed belt timed to one of the camshafts. As much as any sub assembly on the 917, the MFI was responsible for its grotesque acceleration. And as you know the success of the 917 killed CAN AM.
For full disclosure I have a '73 911S with MFI; its awesome. Tuning it is different but it is truly a set it and forget it piece. Carbs are way more fiddly. It was most often found on long haul semis. Also the Mooney Porsche with the 911 engine used MFI.

So this thing is sweet,
if you know your straight line rides
you know,
It stops me every time I see it.
Today was mine to go grab some stone.
To go get up into the steepest of the hillsides.
There might be some clambers that are
more than a body length in height.
Peak colors,
the last warm afternoon, sunset & moon rise.
I grabbed the afternoon gnowing
it was the last of the season before
the heralded freeze.
So then tonight running the pre-trip gas up,
I see it headed to the same pumps I use.
I hope it haunts some one it looks cherry.
The color is perfect, if you know the classic green.
I pushed to get the hood up, for a shot,
Joe looked at me like I was a narc
when I asked to pop the trunk. sorry.
I was stiffening up, the wife & girl kid in the car waiting
and so I missed my chance to grab a few close
pix of the sick looking suspension kit,
rear tires & raised tail . . .

I think they said the pick-up price was 6k!..sounded great was running strong, the interior was shot.
The smell of Water mold (rot) was over powering. smell worth 20K? (might be whatever the interior work costs, is the value?)

is a double entendre in this case, n’est ce pas?
Actually, the squared off one is really not too shabby. One could get some perverse
pleasure tooling around in it. What kinda plates are on it?
Marlow, why you people so coocoo for big old Murrican cars that barely fit on yer roads?*
I can’t believe all of ‘em I saw this summer! However, those Sweeds might have even more
per capita. Course they have flatter and straighter roads too.
*Out in the boonies, if you pay attention, about a kilometer outside many small towns there is
what I came to call The Norski Burnout zone. Norskis, being mostly good neighbors, take
their rods out of town aways to indulge themselves. Of course, indulging in town would reap
mucho enmity not to mention mucho expense and likely the end of one’s driving privileges.
On the other hand, I’m not sure I saw but about 3 coppers between Oslo and Narvik.

I was once watching an old barn in a field in NJ where there was a stripped and in pieces - the interior wrapped in plastic, in what was to be a failed attempt to store a 63 or 64 w/ a removable hard top.
then 30 years went by,
Last year I finally made it back to the site the remains of the barn were there no sign of the baby blue with red interior Corvette
