Day after Thanksgiving, drinking my coffee made with my new "Hario V60 Dripper" and wondering about all of the radical coffee rigs you folks have used at home or in the mountain.
Photos appreciated...

Drip rigs take too long for my preference. Maybe my grind is too fine? I use a french press and avoid pouring all of it out to keep out the sediment. Still isn't perfect

The ever popular "Wake-n-Bake".
Yeehaa

It will make any cup of coffee taste like a vacation.

The wake and bake is truly one of the great joys in life although I can only indulge now on my two off training days. It makes me too unmotivated to do anything but sit around, perfect for rest days.

Everything on an expedition must have at least three uses. Socks; cover foot, strain coffee and...

Edit;
No problem just adds cream to the coffee

When I start using the good stuff I get used to it and don't want to go back.

I use a simple espresso machine at home. My drip maker broke. I started using the espresso and can't go back.

I use a French press when camping.

Bodum 1.5 ltr French press. Medium grind. Makes it nice & muddy, just perfect

Gotta be careful with the carafes, tho...I'm on my third one. Damn things are fragile!

dmt

brother of the bialetti

they make powerful stuff but are temepramental sons of bitches of things that, like horses, only accept one owner. having dragged them up peaks across asia for years they have their sweet spots with altitude - either napalm-spouting time bombs or delivering the blood of thor.

seems to me a 3 cup pot at 5000m hits the nail. whatever the dynamic of pressure (water boils at 87c or something) i assume is the key - as of course is the grind.

being a discerning gentleman, its unthinkable without a ceramic mill and single-source beans as well.

another pic of the set up in milder climes. perhaps mr donini will recognize the location...

Coffee coffee buzz buzz buzz. . . .
The choice of beans? What's best?( from Hood River )
Is the altitude at which it is grown a factor ?
The rain fall in the season just before the harvest?
While a fan of a small company based in Mass, ( George Howell?)
I'm going to try The Hood River brand. Any favorites? That a
Medium (for the most part ) roast courser than fine grind drinking wife will find
To be as good as her small batch exclusive?
As to the way we roll - Bodum & Drip, (through a 40 year old plastic Melita, even at home.)
We are now, in the modern fashion, providing a Push button k- cup option in the garage.
