Hudon for the win! Yes to coffee on a Big Wall

I usually take canned coffee on walls. Now I will have to follow the leaders of the tribe...

With age, and particularly because of some of its problems, my need for speed is not so important or appealing. For atrial fibrillation sufferers like me it seems risky to drink a lot of full-powered coffee, but I can't bring myself to use de-caf, especially in an espresso maker, and too much coffee will make me bilious (bad-tempered).

I do it, but limit myself to no more that two demitasses/day from my small Bialetti, using ten ounces of water. I really don't like to re-heat coffee from the day before that's made in the French press, but will if there is some left in the top of the Bialetti. I don't bother with espresso beans, either, usually, just simply get what I feel like is a good deal. A package of beans purchased three weeks ago I expect to last another three.

I don't drink coffee every day as a habitual thing any longer, and it's just me to brew for. So I've not used the French press in a while.

I like to let the grinder run overtime when grinding for the espresso maker--the grind's never too fine.

its a bialetti love in

mr dmt a silicone ring may restore the faith.
having dabbled in stainless im not convinced they are better than alu, just slicker, like a benini sculpture.

stainless moka pots in a classy shop in chengdu. note the prices are around $200

for this pic i was awarded the title 'coffee wanker' by andy kirkpatrick. but then i think asking a brit about coffee is like asking an australian about wine...

man to man, i appreciate the craftmanship of a bialetti. you have to earn it, the pot needs to be seasoned, theres a mild danger. coffee is a drug and the extraction should be discerning, just as id rather my psychedelics made in a lab and not in a bathtub.

mr mouse has a valuable point - clarity of perception when extracting. i believe the bialettis intricacies help this in the same way as tai chi, suduko and edward de bono.
that said ive been advocating for the caffeine version of the epi-pen for years.

I've tried em all.
I gotta go for Philo's "wake-n-bake", LOL.

ecdh,
Cool tent shot of an old standby in the tent.
I use a Bialetti like that when I am down in Brazil...in the house, sea level.

Dingus,
Didn't know about the gaskets on the Bialetti. Good info.

Hudon,
That is an excellent rig.

On Skull Queen last month.
Honestly, I just use the Starbucks Viva instant coffee, not that great but not terrible either.
