Mtnyng, didn't you know disabled vets opinions are more valuable and correct than their fellow citizens?

Even though we supposedly volunteered for your right to say whatever you want, it doesn't count for as much.

Hell even Donini and I don't count for as much because we don't always fall in line with the chiefs thinking.

I had no idea Timothy Mcveigh's opinion counted for so much.

The Chief:

You notice how I always use your proper name when I post (well, the one you've choosen as an avatar)?

Calling others "Crankaloon" and names like that is just juvenile (way below a Navy CPO).

You don't agree with his views? Check.

You can tell him that you disagree with firmness and conviction? Check.

But you use his correct name to show him that, although you hold his views in contempt, you're willing to give him a certain, basic level of respect.

The funny thing is that, when you fail to do this, you're the one who isn't respected.

I really don't want to backtrack through all this. I think the original caliphate was referred to (a long time and many conflicts ago). That makes me wonder, was it a success?

Phil,

One way to define a "caliphate" is as a islamic kingdom. Religion and government are, for all intents and purposes, one and the same.

There have been many, many "caliphates" over a period of more than a thousand years. The original Sunni/Shia split was, in many ways about who and what should be the next caliphate.

Success? Depends on how you define it. Some lasted longer than others, and some occupied/conquered/owned more territory than others.

The last significant caliphate was that of the Ottoman Turks (ending in the early 1920s).

Too Funnneeeee! Seriously.

Oh really.... And you are an Initiated Creed Committed Chief... Mtnyoung?

Here's a Chief Selectee at work. He was Initiated and Pinned two weeks after this was filmed. He changed absolutely nothing regarding his behavior. And believe me, most of the Chief's I worked for and trained my ass for the 14 years prior to becoming one were far worse than Patstone ever could be...

Actually RJ, you are at the bottom of the target priority list. Low level threat, if even that. Attrition will take it's course with you. Recon'd your locale just the day before yesterday when I paid a visit to Stimbo, Ha! DOA!

DID you read my post RJ... you are a low level threat. In other words, you are not even considered potential to be an enemy.

Little League comes to mind actually!

Werner,

You do realize that you and Crankster are a pair now on the Supertopo forum? You've both got your affectionate little nicknames for each other and your pet peeves, one about the other, too.

And BTW, some people have very good reasons for staying anonymous on a forum (as an example, I'm my own boss and I don't have one looking for me on the internet). Yes, I agree that staying anonymous weakens a poster's credibility; but some people have good reasons to do so.

But you already knew that.

EDIT:

Actually, I just remembered that, on Supertopo, I don't use my real name (I do on other forums that I post to). When I signed up on this site, I just thought that that was how it was done. So I used the first part of my email address.

But like you and The Chief, I think anyone who cared to could figure out who I am from various threads.

Phil,

I think I asked that rhetorically only. It was when The Chief laid into me for failing to go back as far as the Bill Clinton presidency while I was responding to his thoughts about George Bush.

That's all.

I do think that the roots of this present situation in the Middle east go way, way back. At least to the late Roman Empire.

And none of those roots excuse, at all, what ISIS does or what it stands for.
