Maybe rei needs more beta on what kind of climbing gear to sell on their shelves.

It might be insider trading (watch out), but REI is also looking at Spanx, check it out.

Wow! Somebody bought my content! I feel ... valuable.

Good thing I love REI. The co-op spirit prevails. They hire useless climbing bums and put them to good use. Don't even give them sales quotas.

Now route information is a part of the co-op.

Next up: Pump up the Access Fund.

I am with Bob 100%. putting half assed route descriptions on MP or plagerizeing the real ones from a guide is lame. If you don't support real guide books all you will be left with is free crap.. Additionaly if you have to actually spend money on the book it thins out the herd a bit makeing for a better climbing experience.

I always buy the guide books. And I always look at MP.com.

Curious to see what REI does with the service though. I will most likely immediately stop using all of the sites if they start charging.

Quality info is in the guidebooks. Newest info is in the route databases.

Bob D'A can I ask why you had your info pulled?

For what it's worth, I just saw an email from MP announcing from June 15 to June 30 they're matching access fund donations up to $50,000. Very awesome.

REI takes business away from local gear shops.

This idea is spreading and it's kinda lame. REI was a local gear shop and they did well and expanded. Sounds like good business. Quality stuff and an unbeatable return policy.

They also support a ton of great non-profits.
