Talk about loss of significant content!
Why no outrage over the loss when DrF was expunged???
Got double standard?
Philo, I certainly expressed my disappointment when Dr. F. got the boot as well. We may be opposed politically, but I felt like he was a friend and an asset to this site, even before I met him.
RJ's explanations of the situation with Ron help me understand the issue generally for ST. They offer a specific product to climbers, namely providing route information. One of the aspects of the forum provides continuous updating for all routes in SuperTopo guides. They've been generous enough to add the forum generally, and I personally think that was a wise business decision, because it invites people here who will have SuperTopo products (and the advantages of same) constantly before them.
When posts cause too many participants discomfort, it affects ST business, and the decisions to ban any particular person reflects the ST determination that the banned person's posts have an overall deterimental effect on the business of ST. That's their right.
What bothers me, though, is that most complaints about posters aren't content-neutral. People tend to gripe hypocritally. If someone commits forum misbehavior with whom we disagree, we're all over it. If someone commits forum misbehavior with whom we agree, we accept the misbehavior as an individualizing personality quirk.
To me, that sort of attitude reflects a trend toward closed-mindedness that's engendered "content warnings," speech codes, and acceptance of a growing hostility toward open exchanges of ideas. That issue isn't ST's fault, problem, or responsibility. We, on the other hand, narrow our exposure to other views and, ultimately, diminish our knowledge when we ignore the need to tolerate views of those with whom we disagree.

Mine as diagnosed as needing a double fixation but it seemed too mid - evil.
How was your nerve damage? Mine resolved in three years, but I lost a lot of strength.

But we found common ground and while he shows almost no respect for anyone he gained my respect for his strong stand and informative postings.
To have run him off or whined that he was a phkker seems weak although he brought the banishment on by ignoring the no new crap political, derisively postured threads,

Why do I even bother? You all are my climbing brethren - act better toward one another!

Yes - everyone here should post up their face and their name. That way others can use both on other sites. Nothing like having folks from your work or your family find you - and your full name - posted on porn sites.
Fair enough. But if one chooses anonymity as protection against being being ill-used on the internet, then one should not use that anonymity as a shield to hide behind while abusing others.
