San Diego Ranked No. 2 Most Hungover City in Nation
America’s Finest City happens to be the No. 2 most hungover city in the country, according to a recent ranking by Trulia.
The only city to edge out San Diego from the top spot is also in California: San Francisco.
Obviously, the surveyors never hung out at The Hole. Isn't TJ in the nation still?

Eye think facts should be scrutinized & Putinized;
then carefully checked & double-Czeched;
let the Latins then be latinized, then let the Polish be polled,
all of Iran's spies be unveiled & left out in the cold.
FLASH!
Homeland Security, or so I am told,
can change bars of lead into solid gold.
So just dump this HUGE problem into these guys' laps,
And please let the rest of us get on with our naps.

Please Buy That One
We went to edge of danger
Where the living was ripe
And the dead prevailed
There was the then
Then there was the now
Young and old were welcomed
As the comet was predicted to pass
There was for a moment
A serous air about the festivities
The best silver spoon and tongs
Were arranged on the table
Then served first
Were the pickles and the olives
Our guests of honor
Briny, green, and thin skinned
They chuckled at first
Then settled into their roles
Not knowing what fate awaited them
Not surprisingly mayhem ensued
Bitter faces, then screams of terror
Some were cut down in their prime
As others ran for the door
Thats when the comet struck

Fall is officially gone as of December 21, in case you missed it.
Weather Window
There is rain today
not much so far
as I sit in my morning haunt
a mouse in the window
but not for sale.
Drops glint on the brick sidewalk
sparse
random
varied
independent now
targeted by light
given their dew
take a rain bow
but don't leave the stage.
Miss Umber Ella
the bag woman
leaves her tracks
the wheels of her baby stroller
laden with bags of bottles
two pet dogs
Doris the Explorer pack on her back
and her brolly unfurled like usual.
The caravan moves on
but her dogs are silent
checking out the rain
coming down harder
but still quietly.
I see sky
and trees from across the street
reflected in tiny lakes
dotting the center of each brick
a mini-Minnesota
here in the desert
of California's central valley;
there are more
which I don't see
on every street
and roof
and backyard
and alley.
Droughtish thoughts evaporate;
The rain has come,
But for some too late;
for now the skiers
and the farmers
and the weathermen
have something to contemplate.
Two unknown men
sit way down at the end of the counter
where I can hear them speak
in Mexican
not understanding much
only un poquito
except it is the weather
not Christmas
nor Our Lady of Guadaloupe
nor the Raiders
of which they speak
and Lydia nods her head
ponytail wagging
eyes smiling
affirming my question
about their subject
which is ice cream
and soup sales
and how weather
affects them.
I get up and shake Barry's hand.
He is a classmate
here for a cup of Joe to go
and we heartily agree
it is nice to see
each other again
and some rain for a change
"How long has it been?"
"Merry Christmas."
"See you next year."
"I'll be here,
never fear,
if I don't die
and the creek don't rise."
And he's off to his old haunt
the Lincoln/Mercury showroom
to see how the boys are doing
selling new chariots
and to have the wiper blades changed
on his Mountaineer.
Nancy reads the paper
while Nolan tends his grill
Lydia asks, "More coffee, sir?"
"No thanks, I've had my fill.
But may I have some home fries, please,
And put them on my bill."
There will be snow in the mountains.
Maybe Barry can go skiing.
The farmers will be happy, too,
until the next crisis.

To all the Succotaco crowd who haven't had a Christmas card from me,
nor been greeted here on the thread with a personal hey there hi there ho there,
nor received an email detailing my wishes for the holidays,
nor had a pigeon courier banging on a window of your home or office with a seasonal message (Marlow, Blueblocker, Locker, and Amyjo -- check all your windows)...
I want to say "Balls to you" but won't because a picture is best.

Know Well that I love you all and pray for your continued craziness.

Those are gorgeous shots, DMT. Seriously cold on top of the old Tioga this morning but the sunrise was pretty. And CO-O-OLD!
Max viewing distance with the clean COLD air.
Fog pockets surround
tree trunks their tops in the sun
absolutely still
hooblie, your musical choices are always so cool. Thanks a thousand times.
Merry Christmas in the desert, old pal. And happy now year.
