To all & sundry:
The hassle with the shuttle service to Palo Alto is still up in the air. I have notified both Heart & Liver clinics that tomorrow's appts. need to be changed to a Monday only, since that's when the van can get me to Los Banos to meet the Fresno-PA shuttle. Again, it's the tail wagging the dog.

I'm waiting on a call-back from the scheduling desk in Palo Alto.

Sitting on my thumb is frustrating,
So I thumb my rodent nose and bait
All the trained monkeys who're debating
Proper medicine while I await.

Or somethin'.

I have a HusQ, which I am not allowed to use, but shouldn't they have rerun the test with the positions of the saws switched?

BTW, a 10.9 (hard alloy steel, quenched and tempered) bolt seemed to fix up, at least temporarily, the stripped threads in my oil drain pan. As far as I can tell the top grade is 12.9. Max rspective tensile strength 1040 and 1220.

Side note. I called the dealer and they wanted $775 for a new pan. I look online and can buy an entire used engine for the same price.

I thought I had seen every photo of Edie, but I have never seen that one.

Mouse, I hope the transportation works out.

That's a lot of drugs and I hope you can slowly lower the number of them you need to be taking.

Be well!

Thanks and so do I hope. But, as a matter of fact, I just began taking THE LARGER PILL! I asked Alice and she said it was just a potassium supplement.

I'm taking the patriotic approach, though. I'll keep taking the red, white, and blue pills until all the others have been deleted...
then take it from there on the basis of sound medical whimsy.

It's the Mouse Way.

"sound medical whimsy..."

Now there's a phrase that leaves one's mind a bit boggled. :)

And have you signed up for Secret Santa? Inquiring elves want to know...

And what about you, Gnome, and the rest of you Flames readers? You have only a few hours left to get on board with the fun.

Ah, Mouse?
Keeping you in prayer out here in the snowy mountains of the Divide.

And I imagine there is a prayer circle ( healing intentions, good wishes, prayers, meditations, all those things, including *fairy dust* ) going for you here around this warming fire that is the Flames.

Peace and Light to us all this special season.

And of course, *fairy dust* for all of us here around the Flames.

Even any curmudgeons. :)

I'll get back to that story one day, about those three brothers.

This one tells itself; I fell asleep five times here.

Castled Mouth of Sand

Like a castled mouth of sand
I dreamt I had a tooth turned gray
As water lapped my tooth of stone
I went and pulled it anyway

Such fortuitous coincidence
I dreamed I had a tooth was out
It was missing all along
The dentist never pulled it out

As I went across the town today
I heard li'l Emmy Rose's song
I thought they'd put my tooth back in
But I had it all along

And my gone side came along today
He made castles and moats there
In my mouth next to my tongue
Were castles till I get on there

Like a castled mouth of sand
I dreamt I had a tooth turned gray
The clouds went by across the sea
And the rain washed it away

And now I, too, am a black man...er, mouse.

Fokes, Folks, 'n' Genital Readers,

O'HOOBLIE IS IN THE HOUSE!!!!

Solution to medical transport is to climb aboard the Hoobliemobile at 4:00 a.m., manana time, traverse Pacheco Pass to approach Mt. Hamilton.

Then onwards and downwards to Palo Alto's Vets Hospital, arriving in time to go visit Dr. Cheung in his Liver Clinic, thence to the Cardio-Surgery floor for a post-op assessement by the surgical team, or reps thereof.

Return trip to Los Banos via the VA Shuttle Van to Los Banos, then home on the 5:30 Intercity Express to Merced's Transpo Center and across the BofA parking lot to Middle Earth.

Meanwhile, back in the Hoobliemobile, the noble O'Hooblie will drive to the North Bay Country, channeling Bob Dylan and arriving in plenty of time for the RIM Club presentation by Vitaliy Mystery Tours, of Monsieur M's magical climbing exploits on some of the more difficile summits in Eurp.

All's well here. The prayers and intentions were centered like a clip of shots from one of Lara Croft's pistols, they were answered and more.

What can I say? I should try to sleep?
I could say that, but you know I can't sleep easily.
I should stare at this for a while.
Can I get an Amen?

O'Hooblie's sleepin' in his rig down in the Lost Lot of Middle Earth, dreamin' of sugar plumps, Wootz steel, and Days Gone By at La Honda.

I went and shared this good news with John the Fifth. Now I'm ready for some Santa-gazing, mullling over the Pastures of Heaven and cold stethoscopes. Perhaps to nod, but not without setting the alarm on the cell phone first.

Got my pill stash ready to swallow, too. Then out the door and down to the streets all Ohlone for to visit the one-time abode of the Ohlones.

I was this close to cancelling the appts.

But Jesus knows best,
Just plays them close to His vest.

I think maybe Mouse, you have found a new way to reference intentions and prayers at work . . .

good grouping.

So glad the day worked out, and of course Hooblie gets the owl feather for swooping in and landing at the perfect time. What a great beginning to December! Bravo!

Fish, that is an exquisite metaphorical use of words. You know everyone who reads it will be running their tongue along the inside of their teeth to check, and then they will smile. Lovely image.

Here in the frozen mountains where my thermometer emphatically proclaims -4F, I am preparing for an upcoming art show, a retrospective of my Montana work, so I had better get to the tasks at hand.

:)

Outside of the Hive

Rooting out old memories
I stand at the mind's opening
Then I crawl tunneling back
Rooting up the stones to the mud bank
I'm diving in again
To make some sense of it all
In the lake on the hill
In the inebriate memory
Of my life
In that time
On that road
By that hill
On that highway
I fell three times at the crux
And almost hit the ground
I almost flamed out afterwards
And didn't place enough pro
Until way too high
It was almost too late
On Cling and Jerk
And Left Ski Track
Poor style for sure to climb
So sketched like that
But other times on other climbs
We never felt the cruxes
We cruised right through
Were never winded
And those arguments with my bros
Was I there
Did he say that
Why did I love that girl so
She cheated I know
Was she so important
How could I have known
It was all too much for me then
Those gems
That lady
Those golden chimes
Then the interminable regrets
Or maybe it was as much as I could stand
Or just exactly how it all was supposed to be
It was what it was
Back then
That time
Rooting through the memories
They're not so hard to swallow
It's easy not to wallow
Now that I'm older
No longer in the hive
Of yesteryear
