NO, but I believe Archibald did.

Bruce MacKleish Dern was born into old money in Winnetka, Illinois, in 1936. His grandfather was the governor of Utah, who later went on to become Secretary of War under FDR. His great-uncle was Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Archibald MacLeish.

MacLeish courted Bob Dylan in the late sixties to write songs for his play Scratch, based on the Stephen Vincent Benét short story “The Devil and Daniel Webster.” Dylan said in his memoir, Chronicles: Volume One, that MacLeish was “the poet of night stones and the quick earth. . . . He could take real people from history . . . and with the tender touch of a creator, deliver them right to your door.”

I do kinda like that Lorna Doone

Gin
Indianapolis, IN

Incredibly improvisational, Must-Hear "Gin," one of the best ever. After 83 mostly straightforward versions, the band in August '93 suddenly seizes upon "Gin's" jamming potential. This wild, racehorse version is fun, wacky, musically coherent, has multiple teases/jams, and segues seemlessly into "Ya Mar."

Simple
Columbus, OH
1:22
Crazy medley, where "Simple" is played to the melody of the Allman Brothers' "Midnight Rider" at one point, and segues back and forth to "Catapult" and "Icculus" in a must-hear "Mike's Groove."

> in from "Fee." Page's solo is dynamic, with both subtle and louder moments. Cool band-wide collective improvisation during Trey's solo, and a high-octane ending.

Ferocious jam with some pretty crazy improvisation by the band. All over the place!

SOAMelt
St. Louis, MO
11:48
Superb exploratory playing. While it has neither the dissonance and chaotic jamming of many '94 versions, nor the psychological edginess of many '95s, the overall quality places this "SOAM" in good company among the best.

Reba

Really fluid and laid-back jamming, with Trey all but absent (relatively speaking), as if inciting the others to respond. This results in an all but total dialing down of the sound. Not so much a secret language, as a testament to the band, who, via subdued and nuanced playing, manage to maintain the structure of the jam before Trey works through a series of cool rhythmic shifts and wonderful sustain to arrive at the "note."

hey there, say, zbrown... say, that is interesting info on bruce dern, and the running, etc...

i like seeing the 'before they were' as to the actors...

many of the best actors, i learned, were kids that came from poor homes, or,
single moms, that had been left to be the 'only bread winner' and had to 'hit the streets' very young...

one learns a lot, obviously about life and other humans, that way...

also-- now, as to running, well, you learn a lot about yourself, that way, too...

right now-- i just learned where this young gals, live, as led her to...

not an actress-- but, i was curious:
(sadly, a little boy in spain, right now, may not be too lucky-- but,
we can still pray, until we know) ...

I guess he'll not make it after five days in the hole.

Trump could never fall down a well. Too damn fat.

More Dead ahead.

if you get confused, listen to the music play

https://www.dead.net/features/greatest-stories-ever-told/greatest-stories-ever-told-franklins-tower

“Since the concluding remark of your essay stated that the Grateful Dead songs are "meaningless" I choose to reply by explicating one of your examples: "Franklin's Tower."

I do this reluctantly because I feel that a straightforward statement of my original intent robs the listener of personal associations and replaces them with my own.

I may know where they come from, but I don't know where they've been. My allusions are, admittedly, often not immediately accessible to those whose literary resources are broadly different than my own, but I wouldn't want my listeners' trust to be shaken by an acceptance of the category "meaningless" attached to a bundle of justified signifiers whose sources happen to escape the scope of simplistic reference.”

Cloudy skies

Too early Saturday morn
Don't stare at them

Whatever they did
