Sho' nuf sounds like a "master" to some.
Jones sez he avoids 'em.
Might be what they need. Might not.
Without a little help from friends...
Kozmic Blues
Time keeps movin' on
Friends they turn away
I keep movin' on
But I never find out why
I keep pushing so hard the dream
I keep tryin' to make it right
Through another lonely day, whoa
Dawn has come at last
Twenty-five years, honey, just in one night, oh yeah
Well, I'm twenty-five years older now
So I know we can't be right
And I'm no better, baby
But I can't help you no more
Than I did when just a girl
Aww, but it don't make no difference, baby, no, no
And I know that I could always try
It don't make no difference, babe, yeah
I better hold it now
I better need it, yeah
I better use it 'til the day I die, whoa
Don't expect any answers, dear
For I know that they don't come with age, no, no
Well, ain't never gonna love you any better, babe
And they're never gonna love you right
So you'd better take it now, right now, oh
But it don't make no difference, babe, hey
And I know that I could always try
Well, there's a fire inside everyone of us
You'd better need it now
I get to hold it, yeah
I better use it 'til the day I die
Don't make no difference, babe, no no no
And it never ever will, eh
I wanna talk about a little bit of a-loving, yeah
I got to hold it, baby
I'm gonna need it now
I'm gonna use it, say, aaaah
Don't make no difference, babe, yeah
Ah honey, I hate to be the one
I said you gonna live your life
And you gonna love your life
Or babe, someday you're gonna have to cry
Yes indeed, yes indeed, yes indeed
Ah, baby, yes indeed
I said you, you're always gonna hurt me
I said you're always gonna let me down
I said everywhere, every day, every day
And every way, every way
Ah honey, won't you hold on to what's gonna move
I said it's gonna disappear when you turn your back
I said you know it ain't gonna be there
When you wanna reach out and grab on
Whoa babe
Whoa babe
Whoa babe
Oh, but keep truckin' on
Whoa, etc.

Jon of Roc
At the Battle of Dark Star
he pulled the flag out of the stone
from the top of Temple Crag
he took it down
for the people there
and made
Third Lake
his mountain home
In the Siege of El Capitan
he fought the tourists
and the rats
then retreated
to Tuolumne
reflecting on the golden domes
a tired warrior
sun kissed
In Desolation
he was counseled by
the angels as they spoke
his trek along the Pacific Crest
twenty six hundred miles
or more
with celestial guardians
on high
At the mountain hall near Mendenhall
they slew him where he slept
their piousness masked
their jealousy
of nature’s love
and free spiritedness
their vigilante law

New from Flames Publications.
"Best-Loved People of the American Poets: The Patrons of Their Poetry"
V just bought fifty bucks of books and among the titles is
"Best-Loved Poems of the American People."
From the POV of one Hazel Felleman,
long-ago editor of NY Times Book Review,"Queries and Answers,"
and after having kept her finger on the poetry pulse of the American People,
Ms. Felleman has deemed these many works worthy of inclusion in her 670-page opus.
Ranging from the first offering, Elizabeth Barrett Browning's Sonnets From the Potruguese,
all the way back, back, back to the last poem, Robert Browning's The Year's At the Spring.
We have now about 350 books of all description to check out, many in great library
condition because they ARE from the library. The plastic tubs and milk crates
are included, which kind of makes the deal more palatable. I'd have paid less,
but the seller transported them and got them on the porch with V's help.
I sat and watched and chatted with the neighbor Floyd, who gave me/us some kif he
said would go to waste if I/we didn't smoke it soon.
I'm suddenly back on stilts, walking through time, reading and texting as I go.

"What makes a good lemon so lemony good?"
is an oft-asked question.
With a reprise from bushman at the last of this page link, once again, the answer to this seemingly innocuous question.
I wanted to post this one, Terra Plane Blues by Roy Rogers 'n' went to check it out in the search box, and sure enough, it's already here. And Tobia got it like TWICE in the What Art Thou Lissenin' To Now thread.

That's a darned shame, Timid. Sorry to hear that.
[So is emo.😥]
pile it on
my life has been spent
stacking
and loading
and filing
i have stacked
stacks of books
on racks of shelves
and pitons by the rack
i have loaded steel drums
in hot steel trailers
stacked three high by eight drums wide
they were bound
to who knows where
and loaded green-pick tomatoes
sent all the way to Florida
stacked eight high by four cartons wide
in reefer trailers
no sweat there
if it weren't for the computer
i would be swamped
with piles of paper
loaded with unusable stuff
wastebaskets brimming
and my head swimming

twice the ferocity none of da`soft.
a kind & yet still no place to be lost
fast west slow east going to be a day of the beast
The Dead transit company moving u from home to home
third times never a charm but mostly the last, nothing left on the bone
Burr of the cold wind rising, ice and snow is coming and coming on fast
Coz costs are rising, dust in the billfold won't satisfy the jailer
tux`d atween midnight and the birth of our savior
Twixt-ta a scene of mayhem and bloody disaster
lies a kind space where love is the cover charge
no entry fee, you have to pay to getr out of the place
wasted when you get in, like Nam, its all about the routes `n toots
Struggles strengths moodz bastions of acceptance excepting lies
that was it, what`id takes to win show or just to place
a sailor knows the total disgrace when the mast fails
The boom, next, when the crack of the whip comes down
I'm gonna go have a very dark beir or ten,
don't try to tell me when, just keep pouring
I've got 7 where are the other three gonna be to come from?
we keep hearing the same refrain, over and over and over again
And don't not never call me insane
that's why I do it, to get to the same place
the same result, as small a change as age allows
to look for any change would be crazy er no doubt
the rule of the constant; nothing stays the same but change
huffer wit was sour, bit it after fifty thousand told you sows
No way to fix blown out toes feed the head with those
he woulda told ya if he werner goin' deaf now
