A friend, a fellow Tiogan, Laurie, came to my place to visit today.
This lady is the first who has visited me socially in a long, long time.
We spent time on the fire escape watching the Christmas parade last month and have run into one another in the elevator, etc.
We ran into one another at the Cinema Cafe this morning. We sat at the counter, talking.
Then I invited her to Middle Earth to view some photos on the computer.
We have quite a lot in common...she’s a few years younger, but still within my frame of references to things gone by and she reads, too.
She fell out when I owned to having worked at the used bookstore...she's a romance reader now, hooked on Nora Roberts at the moment.
She even took a class in Basic Rock Climbing when YMS first took off back in the late sixties with one of her brothers.
She’s lived in both Monterey and Sacramento, as have I.
Neither of us is well-off or have a car.
I am so glad to have a feminine friend who’s not squeamish or uptight about housekeeping or the lack of same.
The prospect is good. The way ahead is what it will be.
We both have physical ailments, mine greater than hers at the moment, but then these things come on us and we must deal with them as they occur.
For instance, a good friend today reported that he has cancer.
And so it’s been a good day and a sad day, but then it’s really just another day, isn’t it?
One to be glad for, thankful for, and that’s about all one can say:
"Thank you."
I hope to remain on scene for many years.
I yam what I yam and that’s what I’m having for dinner: Yams.
Good, semi-solid slave food, sodium-free and covered in Bluebonnet margarine.
I’m thinking tomorrow’s yam-fest will feature Kandy Korn melted on top, but we shall see.

Yesterday:
A speeding car in California was hurled into the upper floor of an office building after it hit a road divider, reports say.
The crash, which left one half of the vehicle hanging out of the building, occurred early on Sunday morning.
Both people in the car survived the crash but suffered minor injuries, according to police.
Police told US media outlets that the driver had allegedly used drugs and was in hospital for observation.
One of the two people was able to get out of the car but the other was stuck inside for more than an hour until rescuers arrived.

The swelling of CHF caused the skin to stretch and then when the swelling receded it sloughed off in sheets after immersion in my hot tub.
The lower calves are encased in tough skin which resists swelling, causing the upper calves to swell when I am in FAILURE MODE.
The upper part of the legs then becomes swollen painfully and is very tight, resistant to bending, thus making it very hard to get into and out of a car seat.
I need to wear loose-fitting sweat pants and mocs or slack-lace my boots when the legs swell.
I took a long-awaited shower this morning and feel pretty good, so I'm going to the DMV to obtain a new CA ID.
I found out yesterday online that there is no charge for seniors over the age of 62.
The Homeland Security boys demand a valid form of ID when buying a train ticket or non-local bus ticket.
My old CA license was in the wallet that was stolen three years ago and I have been a non-person since then, by their lights.

Delerious
I went down to dock number ten
to see what just came in.
They seemed a little bit mysterious,
I think I'm gonna get delirious.
DELIRIOUS DELIRIOUS
I got nailed in a raid last night,
they tried to haul me off to jail.
Things were looking kind of serious
till everybody got delirious.
DELIRIOUS DELIRIOUS
I fell into a hand of cards
and almost blew the night away.
Things were looking kind of furious
till everybody got delirious.
DELIRIOUS DELIRIOUS
I overloaded and I saw the light,
decadence was on my mind.
Everything was getting ridiculous
till everybody get delirious.

HOW DEPRESSING! It's a holiday and the DMV isn't open.
Got a pancake, walked over to the bank to meet the taxi to go to get the ID and the cabbie tells me he'll drop me at the front of my building for free.
At least I have a good relationship with the guy, who's named Francisco and is a real gent.
I got myself all dressed up, like, for the ID photo. Felt kinda nice having a good sweater and shirt and slacks on for a change.
