funny thing, neither R. Crumb nor the Grateful Dead hate you b-nini.
In fact, I would wager that none of them even know of your existence. Mine neither.

If you think about it cartoon art was the perfect way to convey the cultural content of the California scene in 1960s so the explosion in this form of artistic expression was certainly no accident. R Crumb was the most famous prolific but certainly not the only player in this circus.

I remember buying a Zap Comix back in the early 70's, and when I got the thing home to finally scrutinize it, it had the most indescribable perverted scenes in the comic that I felt humiliated, ashamed and perverted for even buying it in the first place! I had to stash it away for fear of anybody seeing me with it. It wasn't until a few years later that I looked at it again, - still felt perverted and ashamed for even looking at it. I kept it another year, and then gave it to some acid-head that I suspected was kind of perverted anyway. I think he said he liked it!

My brother was an East Bay hipster in the 60's. Prolific vinyl collector and dabbled in some ink cartoons. He had some wild stories of parties at the Crumb crib in Dixon.
Crumb was out there for sure.

more amazing is that my dust bin released a stash of old magazines and things, including a Summit from February '74:volume 20, #1 0f 10 - & - #33 Mountain from march '74 both in mint condition.
as well as some thing Called -The Yodel - Or The MountainYodel, issue #six
very smells like McKnight ish work - she's in the the mix as are many other recognizable names also #170 August/Sept. '97 Climbing with the crumbling, Titan and Fissure'ers' towers on display on the cover, but the gems hidden inside that issue ; Yosemite's Magnificent Seven,
Freestone by Kevin Worrall, A Short Trip with Donini-a-saurus by Gregory Crouch,
Rolando Garibottis' mini guide to the Cerro Torre/Torre-Egger/Cerro Standhart routes,
Not of any less note, are the two remaining pieces ;
Southern Crossroads by Jeff Achey; An introduction & history to North Carolina's run out, White Sides Mnt and Arno Ilgner, and the cover story The Big Nasty by David Pagel, "Championship mud wrestling on the Fisher Towers' mutha of desert spires, theTitan."
Also Climbing # 100 february '87 missing it's cover, and a spring '93 Summit both are excellent finds as well.
that and a picture or two that show us as strong, young and Fine,. . . . have kept me smiling all day. . .
