Hi Tim or other Stich imposter

You know my ex moved to Norway just after our divorce was final and that continental separation does help. But we worked together after we split up but before the thing was final for over a year - there were no hard feelings or anything.

How do you like Boulder? I hate having to drive at least 45 minutes to climb. But I only have to drive about 3-5 minutes to the ocean and even though I'm about the slowest learner ever, it's been fun trying to surf.

I don't miss snow

Dude, that car-to-car argument was Crimson Chrysalis...and it continues to this day!

Amanda, it was nice to meet you and Dave last weekend!

That would have to be the Bubbster.
By the way... several dozen rec.climbers have done Crimson
Crysalis. Does *anyone* believe Bubb did it in 3hrs, car to car,
twelve years ago with an (conveniently) unnamed partner?

Russ, that's classic! Damn, I gotta get back there...Speaking of Crimson Chrysalis,
do any of you guys remember OutlawClimber who posted there for a short while?
Here's one of my all-time favorite posts, from his To Cheat Or Not To Cheat? thread:

From: Grant M - view profile
Date: Thurs, Jan 27 2000 1:00 am

(fade into scene: High Noon. A tumbleweed rolls lazily across the dusty
main street of the typical western town, ca.1800's. Inside the local
watering hole, the piano man bangs out a ragtime tune for the dark-eyed,
dusty, nameless crowd anxiously waiting for the one called "Outlaw Climber".)

Snake Eyes- "Word has it The Outlaw climbed Crimson Chrysalis in 3
hours, saddle to saddle!"

Lord Slime- "Words're one thing, doin's another..."

El Chupacabra- "But his moniker...! I hear he's got a mean temper and a
hair trigger. Doan know 'bout you all, but I'm high tailin' it outta
here as soon as I finish this here sassparilla!"

L.S.- "I always knew you were yella. I've seen plenty come, and most of
them go."

(Suddenly the saloon doors are flung open, and The Outlaw Climber storms
in, outfitted in Day-Glo Spandex, sun glinting off his shiny new gear.
Dead silence as he slowly looks every man in the eye...)

O.C.- "Which one of you can help me tie this here figger-8 knot?"

(A moment of silence as everyone glances around before erupting in
laughter)

Entire bar- "Bwaa-ha-ha! He's only a newbie! Let's have some fun,
boys!"

In a flash, OutlawClimber high tails it out of town on his trusty hobby
horse "Pokey", cap guns blazing, whining," As for the rest of you, your
arrogance is unbelievable, and f*#k you very much."

L.S.- "Predictable. Barkeep! Whiskey all around!"

The End?...

My favorite wreck post. It's from karin.

to "Camptown Races"

Da Campground Nazis sing this song, doo-dah, doo-dah,
Da Campground Nazis four pair strong, oh de doo-dah day.

Drivin' round all night,
Drivin' round all day,
Campground Nazis sittin' in da truck,
Playin' da tool every day.

Friends showed up to ride along, doo-dah, doo-dah,
Nazis freaked and said 'be gone!', oh de doo-dah day.

Drivin' round all night,
Drivin' round all day,
Got out of da truck to chew my ass,
Why won't they just go away.

Campground Nazis came real late, doo-dah, doo-dah,
'Don't park crooked make it straight,' oh de doo-dah day.

Drivin' round all night,
Drivin' round all day,
Shoulda been smart and got a group site,
Like NOLS or AMGA.

Campground small and nice and flat, doo-dah, doo-dah,
Nazis drive and stay real fat, oh de doo-dah day.

Drivin' round all night,
Drivin' round all day,
What a heinous waste of gas,
One for which we pay.

Rattlesnake curled near my hat, doo-dah, doo-dah,
Campground Nazis smash it flat, oh de doo-dah day.

Howling winds all night,
Howling winds all day,
Staked my tent down real good,
The others just blew away.

Had a tire over the line, doo-dah, doo-dah,
Campground Nazis said 'Big fine," oh de doo-dah day.

Climbing into the night,
Climbing 'round all day,
Bet you when we get back to the tent,
They'll have something to say.

Between the gun range and the mine, doo-dah, doo-dah,
13 Mile it's so fine, oh de doo-dah day.

Climbing into the night,
Climbing 'round all day,
Paid my money in a minute flat,
Still got harassed anyway.

Campground Nazis have their way, doo-dah, doo-dah,
Public lands yet we pay, oh de doo-dah day.

Climbing into the night,
Climbing 'round all day,
Red Rocks climbing is real good,
But it's 'pay to play.'

Flat and windy and Nazi zoo, doo-dah, doo-dah,
Worst campground I've been to, oh de doo-dah day.

Climbing into the night,
Climbing 'round all day,
Got back to my tent late one night,
But da Nazis took it away.

Da Campground Nazis ban dis song, doo-dah, doo-dah,
Da Campground Nazis never wrong, oh de doo-dah day.

Climbing into the night,
Climbing 'round all day,
Thought that I could take their crap,
But da Nazis scared me away.

The only people on the wreck are Lord Slime, Simon Isbiter, Sue, Julie, Adrian, Chiloe, Cato, Carpenter, Mad Dog, Cairns, Garrison, Nate and DMT on occasion. Oh, and Eugene.

Slime and Simon are now the never-ending flame war. They really need to get a room.

I can't believe the names popping up in this thread. AND bumping into Brian from SLC in the Dolomites...

Just for yuks, Theresa Ho and I took Knotty on one of his first trad climbs. Amazing, really, when one thinks that I spotted him in "Climbing" not too long ago, posing...again, on some 5.hideous.

Hi to all. I still creep around in rec.climbing and lurk here. Can't stay away from you all. And *I* was the one who did Crimson with Tony in 3 hours, before I climbed it with Slime and Destiville (true!). The good news and definite truth is that WE (Slime and I) did not pitch off "Fiddler on the Roof." Wasn't that Tony's nemesis?

Yes, Stitch, I have moved to the right coast. Not really South though. I am in West Virginia, spittin' distance from the NEW and one more spit to Seneca, the Red and even NC. Although I haven't climbed here much. Finding partners is an issue and the fact that I suck at sport climbing. Ah, yes, and there is the weather....

The holler is fun and life is different these days. Closer to Europe though and I go a lot.

Rex/Fonda, wut up? This is Mike Esparza. The kids do grow quick. My older daughter is a senior in high school now, and is a spitting image of her nutty dad! Fortunately I am still able to gte out every couple of weekends or so. I sent you guys an email several days ago. Have not been on a wall in over 4 years but am hoping to jump on a "easier" one this year to get my feet wet again.

Hey all rec.climbers! Long time no see. I posted here and there from around 1998 to 2003 or so. Mostly a lurker with the occasional TR. I remember getting flamed pretty bad by slime early on in my career for asking about buying used ropes (har har). Funny to think back at how naive I was then.

I wonder if Steven Cherry and Julie are still around. I had a great time climbing with them at the gunks back in 2001 or so.

I'm mostly into alpine stuff now. Although I did just take my wife and brother in law (both noobs) up snake dike last weekend. We had a blast and didn't even epic too bad.

Cheers!

Esparza! Inez! Guyman...is that you Kiese?

2 kids now...daughter is 8, son is 1 around Halloween. I don't get out to Stoney often, though my girl is expressing interest in climbing out there. I took her out when she was just barely 6 and she climbed the 5.1 jamcrack boulder. I led and then belayed her from the top. She had trouble with the exit moves so I used the old "Hollywood Haul" and yarded her up by the rope! Haha. It's cool she's interested again. So hopefully that means I can get back on the rock.

ps. Yeah Knot..I meant to say Slime v. Bubb, not Batten. When you've been out of it for awhile, everything blends together.

Wow....I didn't realize that this thread had turned into such a reunion! Howdy, Inez. Come visit. We only talk about ourselves over there these days.

Justin...Are you still in the Bay Area? E-mail me your current info. What I had before remains on a former workplace computer.
