Has winter started yet???

It sure seems to have started here in Seattle. Day before yesterday was (I think) a record high, but this morning I woke up to snow. Snow!

Kirkwood is expecting 1-3 feet over the next few days. The resort is still closed.
Really? I thought temps were headed upwards. Good news.
Anyway, passes purchased and fingers still crossed from last year. They are getting sore. Hopefully to get some Kirkwood skiing in before heading to Bozeman.
Perhaps we can cross paths up at Kirkwood....I'll be on the lookout for ya....Thunder Saddle perhaps!?

hey there say, all... thanks for the weather reports..

just got a great photo from home, in san jose, where the rain came... made the area LOOK like i remembered it, in nov, when a kid...

mouse, thanks for the new york stuff--did not get a chance to see the picks... whewwwwwww... heard about all the snow, back then, though... heard it was melting, since, too...

*last year, so much snow came here and did NOT melt FOR NEAR THE whole season, :O

this year, so far, we are 7-10 degrees colder than last winter, which was nearly 10 degrees, steady, colder than the year before, which before that, were not such drastic differences, on the whole... (summer and spring, for the most part, too, were 10 degrees diff, as well)...

wow, sure hope NEXT year is not 7-10 degrees colder, :O
but, so far, better news here, than last year:

the snow is not as steady, with the 'no melts' ...
had only about 2-4 inches, off and on (and only about 2, here, in my area) and now:

most all is melted... and will be a 'sunny' though in the 30's low = mid 20's kind of week...

so diff, than last year, wow...
course, jan and feb, have not set in yet...

last year the most wild snow shoveling many of us had to do, for (what the old timers say, was perhaps 100? years??? = but will have to check on that as to 'exactness') ... *after i find which two neighbors, SAID that, :))

:)

well, glad that my mom got to enjoy the rain, into her yard, :)

a thought provoking 6 inch layer of weirdness starting (at bare redwood deck level) with non-communicating pores, into graupel, then needle ice topped with cold smoke pooferschnee.

Lol.

Nobody can touch that. Ekat, you're Gold.

No sun in our town, where we've been without power since the storm Wednesday night. Folks filling water bottles at the fire station, or buying coffee at Dunkin Donuts (who intially had it driven over from other stores, but now have their own power back) are looking kinda bedraggled. We've got a woodstove so we stay warm and cheerful, but it will be nicer when lights and the water supply come back. Another day, they tell us.

thanks for sharing, here...

say, nita!! thanks for sharing the 'calif that i once always knew' as to the lovely wet feel and smell, of the rains!!!!

and say, skully:

just loved this part of your share:

Beautifully clear this morning.. a zillion sparkles on the snow.

it always fascinates me, as to the snow sparkles!!
thanks so much!

our snow is now melted now... think the next for days will be sunny, but
still in the 30's, as i had recently shared... makes it feel odd, now that it is gone (for now), :))

Definitely winter here. After a very warm Thanksgiving day, the bottom fell out of the thermometer, and the next day was White Friday instead of Black Friday.

Saturday was even colder, but Steve Grossman came over for a visit, and we took the chill off with some fine winter ales.

And there was plenty of dry firewood.
