Fare thee well TJ . . . you gave it a great effort.
So many variables.
Sagan is the best "all arounder" in the sport. He has incredible abilities.

Another one showing huge amounts of heart is Vincenzo Nibli.
It's so rare these days to see a rider in his position continue to attack.
Deliberate or unintended heat?
I've heard both Phil and Paul make direct comparisons this year between Froome and the infamous LA. Where as in the last few years they may have referred to the Postal team, but not the verboten one.

I noticed that also, someone actually mentioning Lance. The first time Paul did it there was an uncomfortable silence. :)

Good to see Nibbles fighting and on the attack.
Not sure where Phil and Paul were going with that comparison....hmmm.
Edit:
Quintana picking up time on Froome was also intersting

It seems that Nibali's timing for his attack was unfortunate as it looks from the pics and video that he chose to launch just when Froome was having a mechanical.

I don't really have a problem with Nibali's attack.
If it were a wreck, or fan interference then yeah sure. But this is a race, a competition, it doesn't need to come to a halt just because the leader needs to fart, or fumbles with his water bottle. (ala Menchov/Di Luca) or can't figure out how to shift his bike properly. (ala Contador/schleck) Luck is a fickle thing, good or bad.
And you gotta admit, it sure spiced up the monotone drone this race had become.
I also know you experienced cycling fans saw the fuse was lit on Quintana's attack.
While Phil and Paul were writing him, Valverde and Contador off, you could see Valverde, Contador and Froome were uncomfortable, constantly in and out of their saddles, while Quintana was calmly spinning in his.
Now, who's up for a relaxing ride up Alpe D'huez?
Edit:
A question for my roadie/racing friends:
While descending, why don't more road cyclists adopt the "ass behind the seat" braking style of mountain bikers that was so wonderfuly demonstrated by Peter Sagan?

Totally agreed, Shady. Nibali did exactly what he should have done.
Froome was full of sh#t, pissed off because he got caught with his pants down today, and is going to actually have to work on Alpe d'Huez tomorrow. What a f*#king whiner.
Can you imagine Hinault or LeMond or Hampsten whining like that?

The ass behind the seat is designed keep the weight over the rear wheel, and in the case of hard tails, keep that rear for bouncing all over the place.

That was tremendous! Every bit as good as I had hoped.
I think some of the fans had been drinking. Imagine racing a bike up-hill through a ten-mile-long open-air insane asylum, where booze is served for breakfast.

That was a dam good last climb! Anyone else hear everyone in that one corner booing Froome? After watching every stage, I am glad to say I haven't switched to DirecTV even after watching 500 of those commercials.

It would've been damn cool to see Ryder's name inscribed on one of the hairpins. Maybe next year!

Wouldn't have helped, you still would have seen the same 500 commercials

Quintana's ride was truly inspirational.
So many times I've watched as competitors in his position were content to safely suck the rear wheel of the yellow jersey for fear they might crack and lose their position on the podium.
¡Viva, El Torito bravo!

Well this thread was a bust
I wouldn't tune during the tour because someone would post the results at 6 in the morning
Besides whining about the past ... I do have a comment
Was Froome using smaller crank arms?
He seemed to be spinning smaller circles, any one else notice that.
I guess I could Google it, if no one else knows

wondering why he came into the corner at the speed he did... :S
He was way inside on the shoulder hit a bump and is actually airborne before he hit the corner. (brakes don't work too good if the wheels aren't on the ground.)
The bigger question is why did the bonehead on the motorcycle stop mid turn and cause the second crash.
