Talked to my friend Fletcher who was there when Coz fell and has been with with him much of the time since and keeping me up to date.
Fletcher showed Coz videos sent by a number of us yesterday and although he's still pretty muddled, he reacted pretty strongly to our messages.
I received a picture of Coz taken today and he's a tough sight to behold.
He's taken a beating, faces a long stretch of rough terrain and will need all of our love and support as he finds his way forward.

Now if Ouch was still with us, I'd have reservations about this request.

^^ I was wondering when this would come up. I guess this is expected when you have so many friends on SAR teams. Although I must admit the el Cap Pirate leg-tourniquet video was gripping.

hey there say, chief and all...

got the get well quilt done, with all the names on it... will hope to send this tomorrow... so it should get to the p.o. address by
this week after the weekend...

hopefully, something nice to see in the room and later, to hang on to,
through the tough times... and lastly, as a victory blanket for his bed, when he gets home...

thanks for the update...
prayers and god bless...

HERE IS THE QUILT, FROM US ALL...
HOLLY SENT THE T-SHIRTS TO USE...

AND HIS SISTER LORI,
SENT A LIST OF THINGS THAT HE LOVES, AND PLACES THAT HE
HAS GONE... :)

let's all just pray that these bits of love, will stretch out for
the hospital stay, and
bring comfort, for years to come...

a big thank you to my brother, chappy, for the funds to mail this...

and a ps:

thank you to those that contributed for t-shirt idea bits...
say, mouse, the photos that you shared, DID get printed, by my buddies,
but they came
out very tiny, as in inches...

there IS a photo of scott, on here, too...
just that it is one of the tiny white patches, :)

AND LILABIENE... your saying that you wanted added, is getting written right now, on the BOTTOM GOLD ROW... :)

AND GET WELL, TO SCOTT IS GETTING written on the hospital squares...

will put a note to family:
if anyone there, WANTS to sign their name on it, too...

wow, please do!!!!!
i got all you all on it, up to 215 names... had to draw them on , in
permanent marker...
only missed any newer names...

He's taken a beating, faces a long stretch of rough terrain and will need all of our love and support as he finds his way forward.

Let me add my +10,000 to this, and also my $0.02.

It's easy to be sympathetic and supportive in the immediate aftermath of a major accident like this, but if my own experience is anything to go by, the need for that support is actually greater later on, than right away.

If you're strong, and used to suffering, as Coz surely is, then the first stages of the battle are, on one level, just another challenge, another wall to be climbed, and you throw yourself into it. Sometimes you even relish the battle.

But as the days turn into weeks, and the weeks into months, and you lay there still crippled, still trying to psyche yourself up for another day of lonely rehab... That's when someone dropping by with some home-baked cookies (or a bottle of scotch, or just to chat) or someone phoning or emailing really makes a difference.

When Coz is sent home from the hospital, it'll be easy to say "Thank god he's going to be okay." But if his injuries are as serious as they sound, he won't "be okay" at that point, and he'll continue to need the inspiration of your support for a long time after that.

hey there say, ghost... very very true, as to this quote of your:

many a good man/woman, is then lost, :(
sadly, after hearty fights... (not all, of course, but yes, very many)...

i was so glad to know that big mike, had a good strong trail, for when he got home, but then, thankfully, he WAS and is now able, to GET outside and
into the 'mainstream' of the life's flow...

that, when not possible, is a whole other MAJOR situation to try to tackle...
and worse yet, if a head jury or seizures, 'haunt one' and folks, feeling award, THEN slowly turn away and onward to 'more fun folks' to be around...

:(

let's get ready for how ever long, our 'piece of the quilt' here, scott, will care to be GLAD to have us all around, along with family and friends...

hey there say, survival, timid and all... i am extremely grateful for all the hard times that i came through, and for the friends in my corner:

what better way to say thank you to the 'one's maker' than
to try to help others get through their trail, as well...

and, of course, i could NOT do this alone...
hugs thank you to those that chipped in for this the bits and pieces!!

still got a few more shirts on the way, from johntp:
will make a PILLOW to go with this...

and put SQUARES so scott can have his visitors sign it...
hopefully the pillow will help if there are any backaches, etc,
later for when he is sitting up... :)

say, scott...
you got a your own 'camp for you' spread out all around you...
keep hanging out and getting that body ready for the:

climb through life!
your climber buddies abound!

thank you supertopo for helping these projects give
'hugs' to others... and encourage them that they are not forgotten...

:)

EDIT:
thanks ron, i put soft material on the back, to feel nice and warm...

I talked to Coz for the first time since his wreck by FaceTime this morning and it was very heartening as he was totally present and engaged even though the connection was through cyberspace.
He laughed and joked a bit and we talked about next steps and the road ahead.
Fletcher's to be commended for putting in a huge effort being there for Coz and keeping us informed.
