Oh, my.

Even though the fox ate my granola, a whee of a time was had by all. Climberdude, you are the most amazingly best. Even though we all discovered that not an emergency whistle was to be had among us, Paul emerged, characteristically, late and oblivious to inconveniences, worry, etc, having made several new acquaintances at the base and jumping into guide mode, his favorite persona. The boys, young and old, had a great time pulling Felix, et. al., out of the ruts on the way down. I know that you would have enjoyed discussing technique with them (in the dark). I know I will see you soon, and not just with a shovel to ID. Do you have one of those hot potholder things? Will bring it to MetalMark. Best to you. It was perfect weather, a great mix of youngsters/oldsters, and the planning, wayfinding, etc, will be a leeetle bit better next year.

Paul,

It looks like we've got a double-length sling (BD, nylon, green) here in Berkeley that we pulled off of F & B on Sunday evening. Sorry we failed to recognize it in the dark.

Big Ups to Paul Marzten for spearheading this year's face-off! Really great job, Paul. It was a whole lot of work indeed. Thanks to Holly, Randy, Leni, and a many others for all of the heavy work. Many people had a fine time for sure. Just wanted you all to know that it was much appreciated.

Here are a few photos from the event. More photos can be found at the Tollhouse Faceoff page on Facebook.

I had a great time and I was very happy to be able to pull it together this year. Hope to get an earlier start and get more people collaborating next year. But lots of people contributed on the fly when asked this year, so that is really what pulled this together.

Also thanks to our main sponsors, REI Fresno, and Metalmark Gym, in Fresno.
