without canine assistance, there would harldly be ANY, repeat ANY mt lions killed. And those populations would be so enormous that all other wildlife including hikers would be decimated.

Just felt this needed to be quoted for posterity.

The best way to be a troll is to do the following:
1. Be authentic and real in your posts
2. People point out that you're so completely clueless and inflammatory that you must be a troll.
3. Accept that your persona is perceived as a troll and separate yourself from that persona in your mind.
4. All posts against your authentic and real perceptions are reflected off the persona
5. ???
6. Profit.

Ron - Given your inability to grasp the most basic legal principles, I have a hard time believing that you were actually in law enforcement. Please post up a picture of your badge and a uniform jacket with your name embroidered on it.

"Its just trolling, no big....."

Nice to see that you Rong's threads as exactly what they are intended to be.

Attention getting trolls.

I'm not sure everyone agrees they are no big deal...many probably see them as space-wasting POS.

Carry on, ST.

I don't care if you like Rong or not, DMT. I like you.

If you can point me towards a similar history of my own trolling threads (or anyone else at a similar scale), I'd be much obliged.

Yeah...you're right about that, Ryan. I'd like to apologize to all other users of this Forum who have been impacted by my role in this shitshow. Ron's posting behavior may be over the line, but it was my choice to respond to it the way that I have, and for all other users, it has only doubled the negativity that Ron projects.

I’ve got lots of other views on what constitutes ‘harassment’, ‘stalking’, making physical threats towards others, seeking & posting of personal information for vindictive purposes, personal privacy & avatar names…but they are separate issues from the simple fact that my response to Ron since last Fall has negatively & selfishly impacted others here. I will save those views for other threads, and allow this one to focus on the regret I have for my role in increasing the negative experience for others.

Any criticism that has been leveled regarding this kind of sh#t getting waaaay out of perspective, is well-deserved. I appreciate this Forum, and almost all of the people who contribute to it, even the harshest detractors have something to teach me about interacting with others in this world. Most reasonable persons would say it’s pretty silly to hold an internet forum in such regard, but it’s just plain true.

Folks on the right tend to equate rational thought with belief. Then again most on the right have faith based beliefs that they hold sacrosanct regardless of the fact that a belief based on faith is not a belief based on rational thought.

you know, there's this guy -- call him "kraagster" -- who posts on this board -- call it "Burrito Supremo", who surely will be keenly interested to read this opinion

but he's a a bit of a sycophant, so my guess is he'll bite his tongue

Hey Ron they have had a mt lion hunting season in the black hills for about 8 tears now and dogs are not allowed and the limit is reached almost every year, and I believe at least 35 was the limit some years. So your statement that almost no mt lions would be killed is obviously not true.

Our city kills domestic, urbanized deer by the dozens. But they give the meat to the various shelters and food programs so it is not wasted. Otherwise the town would be overran with deer. Alot of car crashes and dammage/ winter starvation is avoided...

Ron the rule that allows dogs may have just changed, but I don't believe that's the case in the Black Hills where the majority of the mountain lions are and have been hunted. I would agree with you that it's amazing how many there are and there still seems to be lots around still after the hunting of at least a couple of hundred in the the South Dakota Black Hills over the last decade. One was just shot one in lead that was eating a raccoon in somebody's backyard where there were young kids living. Mt. Lions must multiply like rabbits when there's not much competition. I believe they uped the quota this year but I think last year was the first year they never met the quota.

I can guarantee you though that most of the lions that have been taken over the last decade was done without dogs at least by hunters. I would guess the law-enforcement isn't quite so skilled.

I have seen more in the last 5 years than I have over the previous 15 years which was zero. i have seen them about 5 or 6 times in the last several years.

Watch for the trichinosis though.

// On March 3, 1995, the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare received a report from the North Central District Health Department (NCDHD) of trichinellosis in a man residing in Idaho County, Idaho (1994 population: 14,938). This report summarizes the epidemiologic and laboratory investigations of this index case and the related outbreak by NCDHD, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), and CDC.

During the second week of January, the index patient shot and killed a cougar (Felis concolor) near Elk City, Idaho. During January 15-18, he prepared jerky from the cougar meat by first soaking the meat in a brine solution made from table salt, then smoking the meat; however, he later reported the smoker never became more than warm. During the next 4 weeks, he distributed the meat to 14 other persons, all of whom ate the meat within days to 1 month after receipt. //

DMT when did you get stalked? I would imagine that had to be fairly scary. I have always maintained that it is not the one that you see that will get you. I am not a hunter, but i am not totally opposed. Seems like a lot of people want them other peoples back yards, but not necessarily theirs. Lets have a little reintroduction program on Manhatten as I am sure that was part of their natural range, and wolves too. Also part of the problem is that they were hunted to zero population in many areas and now the population has rebounded so greatly that everything is now out of wack.

California wildlife officials confirmed Friday that a mountain lion they shot and killed is the same one that attacked a 6-year-old boy on a hiking trail.

DNA testing on the slain mountain lion was completed late Thursday as results also determined the big cat didn't have rabies or any other diseases, said Lt. Patrick Foy, a California Fish and Wildlife spokesman.

"Yes, indeed it was the cat. We are 100 percent certain," Foy said. "Our primary concern was that it may have rabies, but it did not. It was pretty healthy."

After four days of scouring rugged terrain, searchers and dogs surrounded the 74-pound, 2-year-old mountain lion in a 70-foot tree Wednesday before killing it about 130 yards from the attack site on a trail near the Silicon Valley city of Cupertino. Officials defended the decision to kill the juvenile cat instead of trying to bring it in alive because it was deemed a threat to public safety, said state wildlife spokeswoman Janice Mackey.
It was a juvenile male.
The Bay Area Puma Project, through GPS collars, has proven that young males are driven out of the territories of adult males. This attack was right on the edge of the open space preserve. He was likely very hungry.

Although certainly a very nasty incident for the boy and fellow hikers, this is in fact very rare in California.

Whatever "irony" Ron sees in this story is in his own head.
