To all who are interested in helping John and Steve's family, I've decided to issue 5 special fundraiser limited editions of photos I took of John back in the mid 80's during one of his most active periods. Each edition will contain only 25 prints, 11x14 size and will cost $75 each plus shipping. They will be printed on the highest quality paper with state of the art inks, and come overmatted ready to frame.

The following images are included:

Midnight Lightning
On the Lamb
Phantom
Edging Skills
Lembert Dome

I operate a digital imaging business so am able to supply all labor and materials at no cost and will take no profit from this, so ALL of the funds collected except shipping will go directly to John to use towards his medical bills or to send on to Steve's family as he sees fit.

To view the images and place orders please visit:

For further information feel free to contact us at the studio at 503 224-2202 or me personally at phil@cirrus-digital.com.

Best to all,

While I'm certainly doing what I can, it's clearly the companies and individuals I've listed that need our thanks, not me!

The following is a post I made on RC earlier today, in response to a request for info about the raffle:

The list just keeps getting bigger and bigger. Looks like some awesome stuff in there too.

You're doin an awesome job there!

Any word yet on when, where, and how to buy tickets for this raffle yet?

Jason }}

I'm not sure yet, as I'm in the midst of planning an expedition for my partners and I, in some far far away place!!! ;~)

Actually, I'm hoping to be able to be in a position to have things in order enough that we can go "LIVE" with the raffle by the 1st of the week...

When I set a goal of $4000 or so, I honestly hadn't expected the response that I've had, and fwiw, that number was easily surpassed about $15,000 ago... What this means, is that there wil actually be multiple winners due to the amount of gear being contributed, which also means that the tickets will be $50 each!

I will be creating a website that features everything being raffled, and obviously stating whom gave what, with links to contributors websites as I've been doing all along. Purchashing tickets will be handled via a PayPal link (sucks that they steal 3%, but oh well), and the "tickets" will simply be in the form of an online database that I will manually update several times a day to show the following format (below would indicate that I personally bought 3 tickets, and it lists the range of numbers):

..............................................................................................
: Tim G -- Jonesboro, Arkansas -- 783,784,785 :
..............................................................................................

I feel this is the easiest manner w/o incurring printing and mailing costs, and it will be closely monitored by a handful of the top industry guys (such as Mal Daly) that have agreed to oversee everything for clarity.

The winning numbers will be "drawn" via a random number generator, then cross referenced against the database to identify the winners.

Anyone having any questions in regards to this, is free to contact me at anytime by calling my cell phone at 870-627-0594.

In light of the past few conversations with "industry insiders" and especially at the suggestion of Mal Daly/Trango, I think we may very well be dropping the ticket prices down to $25ea, 3/$50, and more for more...

Jay Young has further suggested that if the prices are dropped, we should eliminate the 1000 ticket thing and sell as many as humanly possible, both to reach more people as well as fill the karma bank as full as possible for the next person that needs our love and support. I say this, because JB has suggested donating all excess funds to a possible Steve Karafa Memorial Fund, which I feel would be the best possible way to preserve Steve's memory and keep his dreams alive within us all.

I would like some feedback from you all about the above suggestions, and even more so to speak w/ JB at this point if it's a possibility...

Holy Hell!!!

An oil painting client of mine has just donated a 16x20 head & shoulders portrait valued at $2000... She says she'll paint anything from a traditional portrait to a climbing scene to a landscape, if that's what the winner wishes.

Because of dollar value of this single contribution, I would prefer it be set aside for a silent auction that will certainly raise even more funds.
