The bluff on the south side of the American River east of Kyburz is called Eagle Rock (I'm pretty sure), approached by driving up some nearly 4wd road off Silver Fork Road, going just south of the ridge that leads to the rock. You walk down the west side of the rock to the base. Paul Brown and I climbed two routes there off the old Gene Drake guide, I believe called Mammy Blue (5.9, 2-3 pitches) and Onion Jack (I think that was the name)(5.9, 2-3 pitches). They were nice routes that followed two different crack systems with all gear placements (can't remember any bolts) and pleasant place the climb.
Hey Bob, could you photo copy the section of that old Gene Drake guide where it shows the two routes on Eagle Rock you mention? Or if someone else still has the old Gene Drake guide, could you please see if you can find the info on Eagle Rock and post it or forward it to my Email please.
I thought I had that guide but can't seem to find it. What's the cover look like?
Anyone???

I don't know where my copy of the Gene Drake guide went...maybe somewhere at my parent's house in Placerville. It was a written guide, no topos (before the day) and mimeographed. Probably fallen into dust by now, but I'll look around for it next time I'm in Placerville, if I ever get away from the lab.

Thanks Bob! You're always coming through!!!
If you ever find it, please be sure to scan it and post it. Or at least send me an email attachment. I'd love to see it and I know a lot of others would take interest in seeing a copy as well.
