May 2nd. If they could open it earlier, they still won't cause it costs money to patrol the road and deal with it up there and late storms could create problems so there's not much pressure to let people in before May
Second guess would be the 9th.
Peace
Karl

My vote was for May 23. Reasoning: nothing to do with snow conditions. I think they should be able to open it much earlier, but will choose not to hurry. But if they wait too long people will be really pissed and start complaining about them keeping a major through route closed. The date I picked is a week before Memorial Day, on a Friday. It's like they're saying "See, we're being really nice to you, you can make your Memorial Day plans."

phylp had a string of logic going up to "...See, we're being really nice to you..."
if anything, avoiding the Memorial Day crush (especially with limited parking and no campground or other services open) would be a reason for them to avoid "being nice" they might open it last minute

the website says that glacier point road will open to vehicles monday the 14th. On another forum someone said that it is open to bicycles right now. I have no way of verifying that, but that would be a fun ride.

From Yosemites website.
Tioga Road
Snow removal begins April 15, 2014.
There is currently no estimated opening date for the Tioga Road. The road is closed to vehicles, bicycles, and pedestrians when snow removal operations are underway.

Shouldn't take them long to clear it this year. Unless we have another storm.
(I sure hope we do).
I'd say good chance by May 10.

Ed and all, we can't really advertize we will be open in case an unexpected storm hits, but TPR plans to open for Memorial Weekend as we did last year.
Looking forward to a new and glorious season! Oh, it's Tioga Pass Resorts' 100th Birthday. :) Cheers, lynnie

My source says the Tuolumne Store will open 5/24. It typically opens a week or so after the road.

There were few storms this winter with long intervals between storms which i'm guessing prevented a base from forming...Throw in the above normal day time temperatures we experienced this winter and i bet the pass will open earlier than last year...

Michelle, you mention Cinco de Mayo the drinking holiday.... my friends and I went down to TJ during the day to shop Ave Revolution and go to our favorite restaurant. I ordered a beer with my lunch. Sorry, the waiter said we don't serve alcohol today.........seriously no beer for dinner either. :(

I had a good view of Olmsted Point from Clouds Rest about a week ago. The slabs above the roadcut were almost bare and so the plows should easily clear that zone.
I'll say May 7th opening.
