Yeah, well, I don't think either the Dodgers or the Gigantes can beat the Nationals.

GO CUBBIES!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, that was so lame. Puig needs to grow up and ask Santa for a brain.
Hockey players must watch that and go "What the phuk? Are those guys serious?"

A's up 6-3 in the 6th and looking unusually post-season like.

I'm a Dodger fan inside & out, but the game against the Rockies a few nights ago was pretty lame. 5th inning, Dodgers are up 5-2, and all of the first-line players are pulled and replaced by the benchwarmers...matter of fact, they all bail and head to the clubhouse!

Meanwhile, the Rockies catch fire and tie it up, pushing the game to 12 innings!!!

WTF? I can understand preserving your first line players for the playoffs, but howzabout at least hanging around to support your teammates?

Even tho' I'm a die hard Rockies fan (and my wish came true--not the cellar dweller this year, that's the D-Backs!), I'll pull for the Dodgers in the playoffs. I don't think they'll get past the Nationals, and are pretty evenly matched by the Cards. The Pirates are interesting, but are lucky to have made the playoffs, and won't get past the G-men.

American League? Don't really care... Athletics? Maybe, but Angels are looking pretty strong. That said, Baltimore is the real dark horse and could take it all.

Edit: As I was writing the above, the AL WC game just went into extra innings.

American League is clearly superior....check out interleague play stats for the last decade. Angels beat whoever sneaks in from the National League.

Well that meltdown for the ages (the 2014 A's) is over.
The Angels are tough. I'd be surprised if they don't win, although I don't know anything about the National League these days.

QITNL, baby, that's gotta hurt.

I bet heads will roll in Oakland this time. Could this spell the end of Billy Beane's reign?

The NL WC game is tonight, and the G-Men (a.k.a. the "Midgets", in Rockies parlance), will play the Pirates. Two of the best pitchers in all baseball are squaring off: Edinson Volquez for the Bucs, and Madison Bumgarner for the G-Men. It should be a low scoring affair. Prediction: Toss-up, and it comes down to the Bullpens.

The Cardinals and Dodgers play tomorrow night. That series will go 5 games, since the pitching will again limit damages by both batting orders. Prediction: Cardinals in 5, based on managerial skills and playoff experience.

Washington then plays the winner of the WC game tonight. The Nationals probably have the most underrated pitching staff of the teams thus-far mentioned, and could be the NL Champion.

What I truly love about baseball is the complete unpredictability in the sport, and that's why they still play the games on the field; no computer simulation can ever compensate for the way the "ball bounces."

Beane leaving? Not a chance.
How many MLB teams can say they have made the playoffs the last 3 years in a row? Even 3 times in a decade is good. While it would be nice to make it to the Series, a small market team like Oakland doing what it does is almost unheard of in modern baseball. There are plenty of teams frothing at the mouth to have Beane's skills. The team is going to likely look a lot different next year, but not in the upper office.

I don't think the Angels have the pitching to win it all.
Dodgers vs Orioles with the Blue Crew winning it in 7 IF Ryu can win
some games to get them to the WS. It'll be a cake walk if Mattingly
listens to me and sits Hanley Ramirez in favor of Justin Turner.

Crawford launches a Grand Salami over the Clemente wall. Giants up 4-0 over the Buckos. So much for the pitchers duel. Maybe the sun will shine in the Bay area after all.

Impressive performance by the Giants tonight. Bumgarner dominated the whole thing. He's a true country boy. Did anyone hear about the time the team bus broke down going to the airport? Bumgarner gets out of the bus and fixes it, team goes to airport!! Dude rocks.

The game between Giants and Pirates was as I predicted earlier, but wasn't even close. The G-Men now square off against the Nationals. Da Boyz in Blue, a.k.a. Dodgers, play the Cards. I'm predicting the Cards in 5 games. The G-Men have used Bumgarner hard, so I figure the Nationals in 4.

Reilly--

I agree that the Angels won't be in the WS; I am guessing you're correct about the Orioles. Don't think the Dodgers will make it all the way there, and it'll be a short distance between cities: Washington vs. Baltimore. Washington in 7 games.

Broke, the Cards got no hitting and their starters aren't worthy of carrying
the Dodgers starters' rosin bag. Their pen might be better but the Dodgers'
bats have been smokin' of late, finally. Washington has one good starter
and, again, their bats don't come close to the Dodgers', the best in all
of baseball.

Orioles have some 8th inning magic going: 8 runs in the 8th last night to put the game out of reach, 4 runs today in the 8th to come from behind for the lead, and the win.

for Baltimore there's something lucky about that number 8 ....
