Exactly Reilly and once they lost Altidore...

Now to Brazil vs Colombia. So much at stake for the Brazilians. This should be a much more exciting game. Wow the fan noise must be deafening on the pitch.

But there was! A pity he was only spectating along with Ospina.

Colombia's defense looking shaky.

look out Columbia...

Just watched a bursting run from Ruiz @ about 28:00 or so in the game...

Is soccer physical?
Is there skill involved?
Can this sport be painful?

It's a beautiful game to watch, and this years World Cup has proven to be the best I've seen so far..

commentator says the ref has a "game management problem"...

haha.. Ain't that the truth

End to end fouling... end to end free kicks...

That half was not long enough.. Beginning seems that Brazil may have the game, however I will not be calling the game until the final whistle.
Can't count Columbia out just yet.

Brazil, showing signs of good control from Neymar, Ruiz and Hulk with a slight bump from the actions in the first half by Silva.

Wow no spin or curvature on that shot. Luiz located it perfectly with the inside of his shoe into the upper 90. That goal probably determines Colombia's fate :-(

That was one ugly game. Ref let the fouls go on wayyy too long before starting with the cards.

Without Thaigo Silva and maybe Neymar, no way this Brazilian team are favorites against Germany.

And while I was rooting for Colombia, they didn't really look all that good either. I think they just had the luck of an easy draw.

That was a great first half followed by a scoring second, which tends to thrill.

Too bad for Columbia, they are a great team that are certainly set to be on top at some point. Damn fine team

went back and read this from upthread:
Deutschland! Neuer is the best in the world.

True - But there are instances (and sometimes many in one game) where Neuer can be unnecessarily risky in his defensive actions....

Neymar is out with a broken vertebra.

The ref'ing at this world cup has been a complete joke so far.

Reilly, I just read Higuain lips. I think it was "what about now Reilly?" I didn't realize this thread was being monitored by the teams.

Origi has not impressed, it's time for Lukaku! I'm not sure I wouldn't put somebody in for Hazard, either. He doesn't seem to want to pass the ball until he is out of options.

Great game by Argentina! Some of the best passing and plays of the tournament so far.

I think US would have given them a good/better match.

Argentina brilliantly played the offside trap against the Red Devils time & time again. I don't think we've seen the best of Argentina or Germany in this tournament yet.

EDIT: OMG Lorenzo thanks for posting that video. I was laughing my a#s off.

So, was that Argentina's A- or B+ game? I'm thinking it was the A- version. Without DiMaria
will that be repeatable?

Boy, Belgium showed their immaturity - so many highly speculative passes and shots. They
never exploited Mirallas' speed on the right flank. Hazard was a wasted choice.

Good luck, Ticos! Yer gonna need it. ;-)

An Uzbeck ref? Really, for a quarterfinal match?
