This actually formed up pretty fast, I don't think it was even on the radar when Pete started up. I just got off the phone with him, he is tossing his stuff into a pig to bring down that he doesn't want to get wet and is getting out. Should be down in a few hours.

??

How so? He went for it and is coming down based on conditions.

How is that a wanker?

Are you on El-Cap or behind your keyboard wanking away like the rest of us who wish we were on el-cap instead.

Read the entire sentence folks please - he's tossing his stuff into a pig and taking it down with him - NOT tossing the pig...thanks much.

I was just pulling a leg Vegas. I saw what you wrote and know Pete said he wouldn't toss his stuff anymore. I'm cool with that. Just trying to make a joke.

WTF, seems like Pete should be able to figure it out on his own.

Really? He's asking help on the internet? Foooking technology.

How embarrassing! Bwwaa haa haa!

It's crystal clear now and the moon just came up.

The moon will illuminate the wall above him to reveal the way?

Plus he always has many things in those heavy bags he carries.

Maybe he has scuba gear in them for this route?

One should not worry.

He's only 4 pitches up.

Escape is close .......

Most likely Peter. In the skydiving world he would owe LOTS of beer, ha ha!

After 15 years working in skydiving I still stutter at saying the f....fir....yeah, that word.

But this isn't his first bail, he had to bug out a couple years ago after sitting under a fly for a week.

Pete's on the ground as of a couple hours ago. Better luck next time Pete! Better to be down here wishing you were up there then the other way around.

Agreed Travis, bailing happens to all big wall climbers if you're at it long enough. I've bailed plenty.

We're ribbing him about a "first internet rescue", haa haa.

he only has two bags! I tried to lead up the 4th pitch, but the route was slick and vegetated cracks/flakes with little to no gear so I downclimbed off. figured he could nail the features to the right. routefinding in that crap is flippin hard.

I hope he has enough ropes. My phone hasn't rung yet, so he either hasn't run out of beer yet or forgot about the rack he stashed in my car (the latter is more likely).

BTW, the name is Keenan, like keenan and kel.

do you think McCloud would bail just to avoid a June squall?

hell no, he has a sheep skin jacket that he wears all the time,

extra starch in the collar,

McMillan and Wife? they would have been in the bar hours ago,

Starsky and Hutch?

don't even get me started on those switch hitter punk asses,

the start to waterfall is devious and ill defined...when I climbed this we were in yos the weekend prior fixing and had similar probs trying to find the way. From the ledge where pete is at now tho it should be straight shootin. notes in my reed book says 42 hr push...chopped lead line.
I also see that there is a 50' pitch
done the last section a couple of times and the A4 up high is pretty easy
hang in pete loose that junkshow and send it.
cuz its a good one

My advice: find belay ledge, jettison contents of one of the many haulbags you have. Crawl inside haulbag with the bottom sticking up. Put head between knees and kiss your ass goodbye!

That made my morning...thanks.

Hope Pete is safe! And finds the way after this storm clears.

hey there say, all...

sounds that by now, all is well?

thanks for working together here, folks...
as to the sudden rain, and finding a good ol' trail marker
somewhereeeeeeee (though getting down was a better idea with rain
on the way) ...

hope you are well, then, by now, pete, sounds like
you are...

This thread is a fantastic preview of what will be possible when ElCapPics has hi def realtime streaming of the climbers on El Cap. Can you imagine Pete up there with something like a Google Glass like headsup display showing feeds from Supertopo as he works his way up?
"Dude, step higher!!!"
"No, not there, that's a loose flake"
"Don't even think about reaching for that hammer..."
"Seriously? A number 2 again?..."
