This is awesome! 2 amazing free lines on Liberty Cap in the same year! Congratulations Lucho and Cedar!

Luke, my offer still stands, if you need a catch on the 8th. I guess it's going to have to wait for Autumn.

"One of the last big Valley walls that had not been freed"

What about leaning tower?? I thought that the free route there still required two pitches of A0. Or are there other free routes on that formation?

Some photos of Mahtah

Topo:

Pretty sure the photos are by Tobias Wolf. Not sure if he sent the route...

Found them on this blog:

Ooops, thanks for the correction.

I changed the name because this route is being referred to as Liberty Cap Free also. FAists agreeing on names-not that common, lol. Thank you Lucho, Luke(Scarface free) and Albert Segura(Passport to the Sky) for believing in the value of a free online resource for bigwall freeclimbs. enjoy!

(weird: I get the edit button for this post but I don't get it for the above post so can't delete it, sorry)

Really?

I liked 'Mahtah' as a name.

Proud way to honor that stone.

A video of Lucho and Cedar on Mahtah:

As a sidenote my partner Ben and I finished up the first one day redpoint of Scarface. He lead and sent the first crux, P5, and I finally sent the elusive 8th pitch. More details to come shortly.

Just wanted to get people out there. Thanks for respecting my wishes! (previous post up thread) The first few pitches are still pretty dirty but the upper part of the route provides quality hard climbing off the beaten path. Also the SW face of Liberty Cap is great in cold weather!!

Solid Luke. Great work so far. I hope it stays open for you so ya can have a fitting end to a well fought battle. I'd prolly go snatch the route from you though...if I hadn't just had knee surgery and if I could climb harder than .10a. But that's just the kinda dude I am.
