It's coming up. Soon.

Anyone going to get out and watch? I love this event (and the one in Co) and enjoy keeping tabs on it.

Anyone know if there is a live stream of the stages?

Nope.

I'm done with road cycling...The sport f*#k'd themselves and their fans.

The cycle track season is about to start up here in Seattle...I'm all about the track now. I never could keep up on the hills anyway, too big. But give me a skinny hill guy to sprint against and yeah baby! ;)

Cheers,

I wrote most of the official spectator program for the race. There should be what's called the 'Tour Tracker' which is the video feed with a bit of commentary. Not sure what the URL will be but, you can get it from the official Amgen Tour of California website. About the last two hours of the race will be shown on the NBC Sports Network each day.

I am currently in Azerbaijan covering the Tour of Azerbaijan. Here is a pointer to my latest report:

Thanks. I found the tour tracker app for my iPad. Hopefully there's running commentary.

I watched the tour of CO last summer on their app, the coverage and commentary was great.

Hopefully this will be the same.

Love me some cycling, though I don't participate. I grew up in a roadie family, summer vacations were watching the TDF en France.

Did you stop celebrating Xmas when you found out there was no Santa? Most sports are and have been doped up for a long time. Why the naive belief that only cycling was pure?

Didn't Eddie Merckz do speed?

Didn't the early tour participants share bota bags of wine?

The sport is effed with drugs, and has been for a loooong time.

I still enjoy it though.

The Santa Barbara to Avila Beach leg is local for me so I'll check it out on that day. It will actually go right by my kids' school.

I'm jazzed! The Amjen (first leg I think) starts and ends right where I work at Nomad Ventures, Escondido, CA.

I work that day, Mother's Day 5/12 (there is no justice in this world). If you are out there come and say howdy at the store. Exciting! lynnie

I always watch it when it comes through Santa Cruz but alas there's no stage here this year. I do love it though, the teams, the courses, the cool bikes. And I have a couple of former students who ride in the tour so that's cool.

To be a winner a real winner you really have to want to beat the other guy really really bad!

I'm NO better than you, and your no better than me.

I will be out on my bike riding on at least one stage. Pretty excited.

Oh, and anybody who thinks there is more issues with PEDs in cycling than there is with football, baseball or olympic sports is kidding themselves... cycling just has more international scrutiny and people willing to charge major athletes. Most testing programs are designed to enable athletes to cheat the system. Don't watch sports or get over it and try to enjoy yourself.

Given that the temps for the next couple of days are going to be hot, it will be interesting to watch how it affects the race tactics.

Tomorrow's stage into Palm Springs with have more then a few faces looking like overly ripe cabernet grapes, sweatin in the sun.

Phil thought they were in the desert today ( Escondido ). He won't know what to think tomorrow, when they get to the real desert.
