If that dude doesnt take it easy he's gonna need a fundraiser.

I don't think so, Norway is one of those countries where that government pays for everything its citizens want or need, no questions asked. Sitting on a crap load of oil makes that possible.
I wonder if having free health care and welfare encourages this sort of risky behavior--seems like lots of this sort of stuff happens in Norway, at least disproportionate to its population.

I know you can't change the thread title, but yeah. Blooows again..

Hi Hankster. To be honest, I do not know what you mean. "Blooows again".

Maybe I should just shut my mouth and keyboard.

Would that suit you?

EDIT

Some of you may think that I am a whinger. That is your choice. There are lots of people out there with more serious problems than I have, but I have to concentrate on my own problems before I can help others.

I've never been there, but I think they look just like you'd expect! But I imagine they have pretty strict rules to keep foreigners out, or at least off the dole . . . there's always a catch.

Oh, yeah, and god knows I tried. It is easier now though, especially if
you're, ahem, from someplace Norwegians wouldn't live in.

I'll base jump when I am 90

Yeah I think its totally do-able as a retirement sport. Just make sure you're rich so you can take a helicopter up there. This is where all the old big wall climbers should end up, like the baby boomers of the sport.

Steve, yes the ripcord got pulled automatically...a job a Chimp could do. The problem was crashing into the trees and dealing with what might be below the trees......spooky!

Your last thread title was you commiting suicide. In only my opinion, that was way insulting to any of us that have ever had to deal with a suicide for real. As an avid BASE jumper this was a stupid thread title as well. That's what I meant.... You don't gotta' leave the keyboard alone, but reel it in a little man.

Hankster, yeah regarding the head thread, I could have done better. Regarding my previous thread, never meant to insult anybody, and I have dealt with two suicides of close ones. And as a former EMT, I dealt with a couple of others.

It is just a bit of desperation on my part, and I sit here at the computer and keyboard, and sometimes use my fingers before engaging my brain.

I have a 'sign' posted next to my desk... Nil Desperandum. I try not to despair, but, then I also try to look on the bright side of life.

Thanks Jebus, but I suppose Hankster does have a point to be considered.

It looks like mountaineers.net is no longer, as I cannot log into my email account (patricksawyer@mountaineers.net). I'll try again later, it may be a glitch, but if it isn't I will ask ChrisMac two things: firstly, if I can keep this thread going under a different Thread Head, and all the posts intact; and secondly if mountaineers.net has called it a day, then dpatricksawyer@gmail.com will be my contact email.

Now to go rob a bank, hit an old lady over the head for her purse, or just hope I win the EuroMillions. The latter is the best option. ;-)

As Monty Python (Life of Brian) says, Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life.

...But from the video, his chute opened just fine. Problem was he had line twists, or didn't stow the toggles correctly and/or some other reason that he wasn't able to steer fast enough when his chute opened facing the cliff...

That's my impressiono, too.

Here's another video of a cliff strike due to a line twist....

^^^ looks like the lines came out straight at first then seemed to almost snap and twist 2 or 3 times. Also he lost a few valuable seconds unzipping his wingsuit before realizing the problem he had.

The thread title is fine.

Doesn't Open Properly!, or Line Twist!, or Poor Pack Job! might have been better, but so what.

Maybe Hankster needs to get laid and chillax a little.

Hankster, don't be a Coz, or I'll make you go sit in the corner!

Thank God walking off the tail gate of a C-130 into the pitch black night with a thick forest canopy 600 ft. below cured me of anything having to do with parachutes.

I never had to go with only 600' of altitude, but that pitch black thing terrified me. I do however get this funny urge to take the dive every time I see a C-130 tail gate open in a movie or on TV.
