I don't think an R climb has to be dangerous. Actually I think the 5.4's are the ones most people get hurt on because of all the ledges. How bad is it? I have not done it in over 30 years, but I do remember two bolts, the rest seemed OK.

There has been competition going on in the Gunks for years.

But not many people posted it to the internet.

Gunks marathon: climb one 5.11, bottom to top, at each of the 5 major crags in one day.... Skytop, Trapps, Near Trapps, Millbrook, and Lost City.

I've done this, but at a much lower level. I started strong, but was groveling up Westward Ha (5.7) in the dark and still had to hike out. I screwed up the sequence. I should have started @ Millbrook.

Suppertopo.com gives more control over my posts and threads. In Gunks.com you have to post to the moderator to help you delete your own posts. And in some cases, it appears he just can't do it. Maybe because it takes too much time. You don't have that problem over here.

Sometimes a post can say something people realize is causing problems with climbers and climbing. The post may not come off there for a month.

But ... I did post something, I put a link there.

Did you use a bicycle?

No, that was against the rules as was caching water or food. We carried all of our stuff for the day with us and tried to jog between the crags. Fun adventure.

Climbing... about 7:30 am on 'No Exit' @ Skytop (when all of Skytop was still open, but rumored to be closing)

I got my wrist stuck in there once. That's a really great climb, I think Ringwrath is the best 5.9 in the Gunks.

I havenŽt seen Donald since about Ž79.But at that time he was hanging out at the gunks with his biblical flash cards and not climbing.I would let him hang in my van when it got real cold.We took a long hike out to Millbrook and I think I remember him hanging off of one of the overhangs out there. Not a bad guy really. But quite different.
